SIP On Mitel / Re: installation of external ringer with Mitel 6940
« on: August 23, 2023, 03:49:33 PM »
No, not directly... You should reach out to Ring Central and see about getting an Algo 8180 ringer (or similar device) that can be installed for loud ringing in the plant.

Otherwise it's rip the phone open, tap off the speaker leads to an external powered horn, like a Valcom self amplified horn and power supply.

We have a high rise with several hundred analog connections, mostly due to fax machines and use ASU-II's which do really well and aren't prohibitively expensive.
I find these are OK up to two of them... or 96 ports... Once you starting getting into triple digit analog POTS extensions, using ATAs makes a lot more sense cost wise. OP had 340 analog extensions, which would require 7 ASUII with two 24-port cards each, and one with a single card for 8 total. I am not against ASU's at all, but at this scale I would look at a different solution.

That said, on the secondary market these are getting pretty cheap, if you have enough CIM ports on your chassis.

SIP On Mitel / Re: SIP Trunks, ATA's, and faxing through a MiVB
« on: August 21, 2023, 08:52:28 PM »
T.38 and G.711 pass-through work fine on the MiVB... with a caveat that it is a single, stand-alone system, or the entire call path is vMCD... If there is a physical controller anywhere in the call path, it must have a DSPII card to support T.38. It has supported it for a long time, I remember setting it up with SIP trunks as far back as 2016 or so, and the support was already there, we just never used it.

I am sure this getting lost in translation, but are you saying you reboot the system and it doesn't see the cards installed, then you reboot it again and it sees the cards properly?

My first thought would be to upgrade the system to current software... This will require an active Software Assurance agreement with Mitel. This will be the first step Mitel tech support would tell you to do.

The next thing here would be to ask if all cards that does this, like the system doesn't see any card plugged into the backplane until you reboot? This could be a main control card issue, a power supply issue, or (less likely) a backplane (cabinet) issue. It is also possible one card is causing the rest not to initialize properly on a cold start.

If this only does this on a "cold" start and can be replicated, remove all but one card from the system temporarily and boot... If that works, repeat adding one card at a time until the issue recurs, than the last you card you inserted is likely the culprit.

Basically, in this case it's basic troubleshooting... Find a way to replicate the problem, then eliminate everything you can until you are down to a minimal number of pieces or one thing and replace it and try again until the issue no longer occurs.

Do a full Export/Import of devices on the primary node... if it still doesn't appear than check the logs on the each controller, an extension conflict likely exists.

In the programmer, go to Operations - Export/Import... Export everything to all nodes first, then Import everything from all nodes (the programmer must be shutdown and restarted after an import).

Remember that remote nodes won't know immediately about changes on other nodes, you have to push it manually or wait for the automatic sync to occur, which is usually during the nightly maintenance routine (about 3am).

These are ancient SX2000 cards... plentiful on the secondary market cheaply (like $100 USD or so) but pushing 30 years old now. Honestly you should be working to migrate away from these to ASUs or ATAs... We have had good luck with Grandstream units.

Not to hijack the thread, but which Grandstream models have you been using? I've been using AudioCodes, which are reliable, but leave a lot to be desired in the configuration ease and price categories.
GXW4200 series... We have several dozen on our hosted platform, and maybe 8-10 on Mitels. We also use a lot of HT812/814 models.

Pretty sure it's more like 700... I have had them installed in 500+ room hotels and had a mailbox for every room plus admin phones, restaurant, lounge, etc...

If we are going to ignore the fact the Mitel cannot do or support NAT translation and hope the SIP ALG of the firewall handles it, I highly suggest Bria Solo softphone... We use it with Mitel, ESI, and Broadsoft hosted platforms and it works very well. You can try it for free, but it is not free for normal use but is well worth the $30/year cost as it stores all it's config in the cloud... All the user needs to know for any platform (mobile, PC, tablet, etc) is their login to the Bria website and the rest is handled automatically.

Unfortunately, without an MBG or a VPN back to the site, it won't work... the MiVB doesn't support any kind of NAT translation.

So I don't think you quite understand how "COR" relates to things... COR is just a value which in itself means nothing... What you have to find is the ARS Route the call is taking out the system, look at the COR Group assigned to it, then look at the COR Group Assignments to see what COR is in the group... and the old Mitel rule is "if you're, you're out" so if that COR value exists in the COR Group assigned to the Route, then the call is blocked.

"Internal Outbound calling is going straight to customer's voicemail."
This I don't quite understand... If the call is leaving the system, the fact it's going to voicemail is not relative to you unless the far end has a particular rule to block your number, is in night service or something of that like.

If you can change it Multiline Keys, couldn't you just export the form, edit it, then reimport it?

Someone who is really good with Excel could probably even make a script or macro to handle the changes for you... I am not that person. lol

We recently switched front desk systems and they need to integrate into our Mitel sx200. I am unfortunately 1000 miles away from the property and its a small town where I can't find tech knowledge to help me out. I just need to find the IP Address to our system and the main phone is a Super Console 1000.  Net view doesn't show any servers i'm guessing due to the firewall setup and I don't have access to any of the routers/switches and that is a little beyond my knowledge. The Mitel is just mounted on the rack with no screen/keyboard hooked up.  What is the easiest way for me to find the ip address so they can remote in and integrate it with our new system.
In my experience, most of these hospitality systems are completely stand-alone and have no integration into the network anywhere and the IP settings are default, meaning you have to connect to the controller itself or the switch that is dedicated to the controller and use the secure-telnet client that comes on the CD to connect to 192.168.1.2 (the default IP). Heck, 50% of these I come across still have the default username/password for installer, if not then for maint1. Otherwise I know how to get it from a phone like a 53xx series, but I would have to play with the console to figure it out and frankly I don't have many of these anymore and we don't maintain a shop/demo system anymore either.

The feature code will not work
I assume you mean the Message Waiting - Deactivate FAC? Sometimes you have to do it multiple times, you will only clear the most recent MWI and sometimes people set it more than once. Also remember to use the code you enter the FAC then the extension you are trying to clear... so if the Deactivate code is #33 and it's extension 1234, you dial #331234 and hang up.
