Title: Can't call from Softphone on company WIFI
Post by: Steve79 on April 06, 2017, 07:06:00 AM
Running Micollab on my smartphone works on the company wifi but I cannot make a call from my softphone, the option is not there.

If I turn the wifi off (over O2 data) then the call from softphone option is back when making a call

Any ideas?

Are you turning off Teleworker mode?

Otherwise, without knowing a lot more about your network and deployment profiles it is hard to give an answer.

Thanks fro your reply.

Teleworker remains on the whole time, between turning my wifi off/on no other changes are made but with the wifi on I don't get the 'call from soft phone' option.

WIFI network can connect to all Mitel servers so I presume LAN side.

Depending on how the deployment profiles and network are configured, you may need to turn off Teleworker in the MiCollab Client app settings when on your internal WiFi... This may be an indication your network not setup correctly or is setup this way. In some locations we build the deployment profile to use the public IP in Teleworker mode and the internal IP of the phone system in "local" mode (Teleworker turned off).

I've seen this before.  We had customers setup another wireless SSID for the softphones.  The network for that SSID would have DNS configured to keep teleworker type applications pointed at the public addresses.  Then they just setup their firewall and the routing to send traffic through the public MBG as normal.  That way they didn't have to constantly remove teleworker mode in the apps.

Thanks this is useful information, it does indeed work on the WIFI if I turn Teleworker mode off so I guess its the fact the LAN can't ping the public IP address of the teleworker server.
I will have a think what to do.
