Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: mitel 3300 call dropping
« on: September 01, 2014, 10:13:18 AM »
The logs you provided are related to an extension, not trunks.

This command can be helpful if you want to see when a call dropped, why and which side asked to drop the call (CO or PBX)

EDT TRACE VDSU NAMNUM <plid>

Hope it helps!  :)

Can't remember if version 9 required 512mb of RAM... but double check to be sure!

I think these logs are related to the echo cancelling process of the 3300. I see these logs on many systems.

Before blaming analog lines, I would check the IP network configuration. What kind of network equipment do you have between the phone and the 3300? Do you have any firewall?

We ran into similar issues with all kind of SIP equipments/providers. Your MCD is 4 years old. This is not a good thing. I would definitly try to upgrade to the latest release since SIP support has greatly impoved over time.

Ralph is right, you can't transfer/put on help an operator, even in new releases. This is by design.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Configuring G729 compression

Yes, CAC can limit the number of calls within a Mitel cluster. You'll have divide your sites in zones and ZAP which are your MPLS links between zones. Zones and ZAP must match your network topology.
From my experience, that's not so easy to do.

All this programming is done with Network Zones and Bandwidth Management forms. Also, online help has great examples.

Finally, you must know that a Mitel 3300 cannot do G.729 on its own. You must buy a DSP II card and appropriate licences. A G.729 resource will be used when the 3300 controller is involded in the path (like a phone call between an IP phone and a TDM trunk/phone connected to the 3300). Phones are able to do G.729 for P2P calls. G.711 will be used if a G.729 resource/license is unavailable.

With Network Zones form, you'll be able to define which zones have to use G.729.

Also, note that some Mitel phone models can use the G.722 codec which uses less bandwidth then G.711 (even if the voice quality is better).

Hope that helps!

If you're using Call Director call flows, I never found a way to download an existing voice prompt.
Tried one time to find voice files in a Nupoint backup. I was not able to edit them since they look like to be encoded in an non standard codec.
In those cases, I use record-a-call.

Maybe someone else has a better solution!?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think 5320e are not supported on MCD 4.2.

Also, check this post... http://mitelforums.com/forum/index.php?topic=5391.msg24014#msg24014

No... You'll always see ring group DN and name on a SIP device.
Had customer complains after an upgrade to 6.0. Tech support told me "That's the way it is".
Haven't tested with 7.0.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: Cabling 5e vs 6
« on: June 30, 2014, 10:03:38 PM »
New Mitel phones are gigabit compatible (5320e, 5330e, 5430e and 5360).
I would not go with separate cables for voice and data. Your phone and your PC can share the same cable, since you can connect your PC behind the phone. Both will work at 1 GIG.
Remember, if you want to separate voice and data, you'll have to double the number of cables.... and switch ports! This can become very expensive.

QoS is pretty reliable now and there's no reason you would separate voice and data in 2 different cables.

Anyway, since you're moving to a new building, you could buy 2 cat 6 cables per office. Second one only for future expension and not connected to a switch.

Hope this help!

After working with a lot of different PBXs, here is my top 5 :
  • Hot Desking
  • ARS
  • Embedded RADs
  • SDS
  • EDT trace debug commands

I think the only compatible part would be the power supply

bluewhite4 is right.
I think latest Nupoint release corrected the issue also

Don't forget... If you use a nametag HG + menu node, you wont be able to dial an extension or use dial-by-name. You'll only be able to dial 0-9 options in the menu node mailbox.

Real way to create a second attendant is to split VM ports.

To the best of my knowledge, you can't change de default codec for unified messaging.
