Title: DSCP
Post by: sunspark on November 13, 2017, 04:02:52 PM
Hi,

I have two mcd in two different cities. The phones communicate with each other by their Dn. I want to check the Qos from end to end. From phone A> switch A> router A to Router B> switch B> Phone B. How can I check the Dscp on all devices? With a trace wireshark port mirroring? Another question. The Dscp is on the sip or rtp stream or both? Thanks

Hello,

I will have to make a few assumptions since I don't know what your WAN looks like. Assuming your provider honors the markings you would just capture at the far end. If something along the way is misconfigured or strips the marking you will know.  DSCP is layer 3 and it will reside in the IP packet. I would suggest also using COS on the LAN so it gets priority all the way through. COS is Layer 2.

Hi Pakman ,

I have MPLS WAN.

I put QOS DSCP 46 on my LAN.

So what u suggest :

Wireshark Mirroring Port ( Phone A) and do the same thing in the other side with Phone B ?

Yes, you should see 46 under the IP packet if end to end is there.
