Hi Folks,

I have recently manually upgraded a 3300 MXE lab sytem to MCD 5.0 and can now log into system.
Trying to use the software installer tool only to apply new demo licence (already assigned to hardware id on AMC site).
I check off full install, choose internal 3300 ftp server and browse to c:\ftproot, where I still have all software files).
Then on next screen, I uncheck all boxes except configure licenses and then tool verifies licenses are all zero.
I then put in application record id and hit retrieve licenses - System does not have interent access so just before doing this I unplug cat 5 cable from system so laptop can go out wireless to AMC Site or unplug cat 5 and plug into internet modem, changing static ip back to obtain automatically). I have done this in the past and it worked fine, then normally plug back into 3300 system and continue on.
But, this time immediately after clicking retrieve licence - the installer tool closes down (no longer running if I look in task manager).
I have tried both the tool that comes with MCD 5.0 and MCD 6.0 as well - same thing.
The tool does not fail to reach the AMC site - it just disappears from the screen and doesn't come back....
Running Windows 7 on an HP Probook 6470b.

Any thoughts?

Hi Folks,

This is only on a lab 3300cxi system, running 6.0 sp2, 12.0.2.23 software.  It is not in a cluster.

I backed it up, loaded a blank database (dbms flag off, then reset system), and then did a restore.
Progamming for sets, etc came back but when I add a new policy in Admin Policies, default read-only, and then try to change all members below (or even change pages except for the first page or two) it return above error.
May not be related but I noticed that the radio buttons are all blank as well, for read/write, read only and no access, until I click one and attempt to select it - I would have thought that the read-only buttons would have been pre-selected because I chose that as default access type.
Google search did not turn up any current info on this error message, but I read about it happening for one customer with the telephone directory form, where they could only make changes to the first page members as well. Someone thought it may have to do with ESM database not being in sync with (another) database used behind the scenes....and that aftre rls 6 there should be a maintenance command to sync it - I do npt know that command...

DBMS check full came back with 0 errors.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Folks,

I got a replacement 3300CXi controller (old one damaged in shipping) and added the old i-button, t1 card, 512m ram (replacement only came with 256m), APC card and it's hard drive.

The i-button brackets on the replacement chassis, likely refurbished, seemed loose, and did not hold the button tight.  I bent them a bit, so they hold it tighter.

Anyway, I get the following error message from the maintenance port as soon as I apply power: (it doesn't go any further.)  Any ideas??

Hi folks,

we have downgraded / manually installed older version (9.0.0.41) on two CXis (which I have done often) and manually reinstalled the same version (10.0.2. on a CXiII. This is in a lab environment. One still works fine. The other CXi and the CXiII both are having problems, where the built in 16 port switch on one is not giving power to IP switches, nor Lan connectivity / DHCP, despite DHCP being enabled.
The other one has LAN connectivity on the 16 port switch, but no POE (The ports all have power set to auto in programming).

We did turn the DBMS flag on (DBMS save) before enabling DHCP, and have loaded our License options / passwords and rebooted.

Now running 4.0 on both machines.

Any thoughts?

Anyone have experience with this?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have experienced this frequently on a SX2000 with analog (ground start) trunks in several per cabinets. I have heard that it also occurs on the 3300, with analog trunks (likely loop start) as well as with PRIs.

The problem likely occurs more often when a customer transfers a call outside the switch (using a 2nd trunk) and for some reason the trunks do not get release. The CO is DMS.

Besides checking for COD (Central Office Disconnect) / Disconnect Supervision at the CO (on the DMS), are there other things to check?

Normally we discourage customers from making outbound transfers. however, some times they insist (or have been told it will work by sales) so we have to put up with it.

In my experience, with the analog trunks, I would just put the butt set on each trunk, and if I heard dead air, pull the jumpers off, and you would always see two trunk lights go out. This is why I assume that it happens during outside transfers.

Any thoughts??

Hi guys,

On my 2 demo 3300 CXIs, I get the above alarm, in the GUI, under Maintenance and Diagnostics, alarms.

If I do a Show Status alarm, it says no alarms.
If I do a Show Faults Receivers, it says no faults.

I read the 9.0 Release notes, and saw something about upgrading the Bootrom all command.  Tried that, but alarm still there - only when you click on alarms - not there in top left alarm banner location, or when Show Satus Alarms.

The systems are stock - no additional DSPs, of any type, installed!!

Any ideas?

Hi folks,

I haven't found it in the forms, but just wondered if the 3300CXi is capable of setting up a VPN tunnel to another 3300CXi, over DSL internet, with public static IPs at each end.

I ask because you can do this in the BCM50e, where the tunnel is created between the two e routers, which then allows one BCM to see / connect to the internal / private IP of the other BCM.

Of course, you could always buy a managed firewall / VPN service, that would do this, or buy a couple of VPN tunnel boxes, but I just wondered if the CXi has anything built in.

I was told that the docs mention somewhere that you can't do IP trunking over the WAN port! But, this seems strange as the WAN port just provides internet connectivity, (all in one box), instead of the customer having a separate router for internet access, then connecting to the CXi's LAN port, through a layer 2 switch.

If anyone could shed a bit of light on this, I would appreciate it!!

I am setting up a new APC card on a Mitel 3300CXi controller. I have only set up one before, on a SX-200ICP CXi, in a lab environment.

1st - Even though the APC comes preloaded with Mitel Standard Linux (MSL), I burned a CD with an MSL image, and used the portable USB CD-drive to (re)install the MSL software on the APC - as I wanted to know how to do it, in case I have to in the field later.

The process varies a bit from what is described in the MSL install & admin guide, (it states that scipts should auto run, etc, I had to secure telnet into the switch / APC card to start the install, etc)

I had the APC working, and was able to telnet into the server-console, and make changes, or use the IP based server-manager tool to configure as well. However, when I tried reconfiguring it, in Server-manager, it said rebooting, and could not get back into it, through server-manager, or telnet.

I have since reinstalled MSL again, from the CD, and wnet through the steps OK, but now can't get into it again, to do the initial configuration, after the rebooting stage of the MSL install.

Am I missing a step when I telnet into 192.168.1.2 2005, then enter login and password, then enter - NOTHING HAPPENS. Is there a keystroke here that gets you into start the config. The 1st time it went in after hitting enter!! Now it just sits there!!

Also, can someone explain the pros an cons of using server-gateway vs server only mode for teleworker. The WAN port of the 3300 CXi will be plugged into a DSL with a public static IP address.
- Can I not use the 3300 Internet Gateway WAN port config and firewall, without using the APC as the gateway.
- If I select select server-gateway for the APC, do I still configure the 3300 Internet Gateway/WAN IP, or is this now redundant, with the APC card in server-gateway mode??
A bit of advice would be appreciated!!!!!

just tried reinstalling MSL again. Everything seemed good, was able to install MSL, then configure it with my settings.. THEN - APC CARD REACHED CRITICAL operating temperature and shut down!!!

This is the 3rd time this happened, and may be the reason that I couldn't get into it earlier, it may have shut itself down.

Whoever has installed an APC card before-- I 1st tried to use the 2 sided tape stuff, to stick the heat dissapaiter plate onto the APC card. After it overheated the 1st time, I tried rmeoving this, but still no luck. Any ideas ??? I am probably missing something simple!!
