Title: SX200 ICP MX remote connection
Post by: SuperD on October 18, 2016, 01:57:37 PM
I am trying to set up a modem on the maintenance port on a SX200 ICP MX controller. I can get the modem to answer, but the phone system does not respond. I have tried various cables and modems, with the same results. I can log in directly through the maintenance port.

Are you using a cross over connection?

There may be some pins you'll need to short.
Unfortunately, I don't think I remember them.

If you have a USR modem then I think there is a dip switch you can set for CTS.

The DIP switch is set for CTS, and I have tried null modem cables/ adapters.

Is this a USR modem?

Why deal with modems, it is 2016... Port forward 2000/TCP to the controller and just use the Mitel Telnet-TLS client

If you must use a modem, assuming USR here, put switches 1,4 Down all others up and then connect with null modem cable.

I think there is (or was) a knowledge base article on this specifically.

It is a USR modem and the system does not have internet access to log in remotely.

It is a USR modem and the system does not have internet access to log in remotely.
Pretty much any document for remote access configuration, like Cisco, Inter-Tel, HP Procurve, etc. for the USR will work as far as configuration goes...

The keys are to lock DTE speed to 9600, ignore DTR and flow control, and enable auto-answer, then connect a standard null modem cable to the modem.

We require customers to provide a static public IP address, even hotels, and none of them have had an issue with it, then use a cheap wireless router (Manhatten 300N Wireless Router) to connect the Mitel network to the internet through it, and port forward 2000 to the ICP. We even require this if picking up a SX200 ICP for maintenance only that we didn't install.
