Title: new UC360, need to install 3rd party android apps
Post by: j33p4meplz on September 18, 2017, 08:52:38 PM
We just got a UC360 conference phone, Its a nice little rig. I'm looking and hopeful that i can install the android app for our conference solution on it though, I've not been able to thus far.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

The phone runs a stripped down version of Gingerbread with a custom UI... Early on you could via adb, but they patched that a while back and I haven't found a way to do it for several years, besides most apps require at least ICS or KitKat now days. In all honestly though, I haven't tried in a while.

I'm curious.  What type of 3rd party apps would you need to add?

You could add any 3rd party Android app, the problem was opening it... they don't show up in the Mitel "launcher" application. You have to open them with adb (which is now patched). I tried adding a 3rd party launcher, but it messed up everything else.

Whatever you're trying to do, it will probably be easier to start with something else less locked down that runs Android and add a SIP client to it, rather than trying to open up the UC360.
