Title: Shutting down an MXe3300 to move it
Post by: VinceWhirlwind on September 08, 2017, 03:52:06 AM
Should I gracefully shut down the controller to move it, or just pull the plug on it?

I have a strange feeling if I gracefully shut it down I have to do something special to bring it back up...?

Gracefully shut it down. Go to maintenance commands and type in shutdown (I think thats it) and wait for the mandatory 60 seconds; make sure the disc light is not flashing just in case and then pull the plug. Nothing special to do on restart.

Unless its a MXe server; thats done from the server manager although its just the same IIRC

I like the appShutdown 3 command from maint port, tells you when ready for power off and it is usually less than the 60 seconds.

I just shutdown (if I can see the switch and not doing it remotely) about 5-10 seconds after HD activity ends which is also usually less than a minute as well. You pays your money..... If I'm doing it remotely and someone else is pulling the plug then its after a minute.
