Title: Designate which phone line outbound calls are placed on.
Post by: jblackwood on March 13, 2017, 12:35:04 PM
Hi All,

Mitel 500cp system.

Whenever I hit the outbound call button on our phones, it defaults to a line that keeps giving me the message "This number has been suspended".

I have checked all 4 phone lines. I can call out on the other three by dialing the 5 digit trunk number, but this 4th one is giving me problems in the system. I can call into the office on this 4th number but not out.

Is there a setting that I need to adjust in the Database program to fix this?

All help is appreciated.

My first thought would be to check the physical line to make sure it is working. Just put a butt in set on it directly and make an outbound call and inbound call and to test. If it's a carrier problem then call them. If it works then verify your connection to the 5000 is actually good.(Make a biscuit jack and test both pairs)

Make sure the trunk is in the TG properly and keep in mind that the system calls from the bottom up, IE line 4 first.

It may be seem to be working when you call in because of a roll-over number. I don't know the specifics of your lines so that is a guess.

All lines are working into the system, I can call out on three of them using their direct extensions (94000,94001, 94002) The 4th (94003) is giving me the error.

Not sure if I should delete the trunk group and rebuild it using default settings or not. Not sure what got changed.

I'd suspect the LD carrier.
You could verify by dialing one of the other lines from that line.
If it goes through then it's the LD carrier.
If not, then you'll need to talk to your carrier.

If it's a recorded announcement it's the carrier.  The PBX never says that, problems just display on the phone.  If you're calling LD maybe there's no LD carrier associated.  The word "suspended" makes me think the carrier turned it off, maybe it wasn't on your bill and didn't get paid, or maybe they just made an error.

jblackwood,

Have you tried putting in a carrier PIC (Primary Interexchange Carrier) code? I believe that AT&T is 10-10288 if you want to try one.

Thanks,
