Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: 5610 - Ring Groups
« on: August 27, 2015, 11:21:12 PM »
Mitel have now done their own in-house testing and confirmed that the 5610 base can only do ringing for 3 concurrent calls at a time and that it is regardless of the handsets being turned off or on, because it is based on registration.

They are now going back to the 3rd party that makes the 5610s for Mitel to get a confirmation from them that this is by design.

No problem. Your idea won't work in my case. Thanks anyway.

@Matthew - Not sure where you are getting this information. We are talking about a DSS/BLF key to monitor the ringing of another phone in the office and not an additional line/extension on the same phone.

Mitel state "Selecting Ring will cause the set hosting the busy lamp to issue a single burst of ringing when the lamp first indicates ringing state."

Did some more testing last night and I can confirm that the 5610 base is rejecting the calls to the 4th extension when you try to ring 4 handsets on their own extensions at the same time.

The 5610 base is replying to the 3300/MCD with "SIP/2.0 486 Busy Here".

Mitel are investigating this further for me so I will hopefully have definitive response for those that are interested.

I am just going through this same scenario with Mitel support right now and they have not been able to give me an answer either. The documentation for the 5610 states that yes you can have a maximum of 8 handsets registered to 1 base but a maximum of 6 handsets ringing at 1 time.

I have confirmed that with 4 handsets on the 1 base and an extension for each of those handsets registered, that only handsets 1-3 will ever ring when all 4 extensions are in the same Ring Group using the Ring All method, even if you turn off handsets 1-3.

If you have the base configured for inbound calls as:

Handset 1: Account 1
Handset 2: Account 2
Handset 3: Account 3
Handset 4: Account 3

Then you can get 4 handsets ringing. I have not been able to establish if it is the 5610 base that doesn't want to ring the 4 handsets for the 4 extensions of if it is an MCD limitation. I suspect it is the 5610 base that has the limitation for no more than 3 simultaneous unique calls being processed at 1 time.

The Ring option only gives you 1 quick half ring indication that the remote extension is being called. Which has a high probability of not being noticed if you are not sitting at your desk for the 1 second of ringing.  :(

What would be really good would be Ring or No Ring if you are on a call and Continuous Ring when you are not on calls.

We have a customer that has asked for some 5320 phones to have keys set up with DSS/BLF (Busy Lamp) for phones in an adjoining office. They wanted the keys to also be set with Ring Continuous so that if they are away from their desks they will hear that the remote phones are ringing.

With this scenario is there any setting that will temporarily disable the DSS/BLF Ring Continuous if they are already on a call?
