What version of the MCD are you running and what version of firmware is on your 53XX phones?

I have concluded that it must have something to do with the phones firmware as everything else is normal. We are now kicking off a system upgrade to force a firmware update to the desk phones.

It is very annoying and Mitel couldn't find an issue.

Are there any release notes for the Mitel phone firmware updates?

We have a customer that wants their extensions to present 2 different caller ID numbers based on the external destination number they have dialled. They have multiple SIP phone numbers for different area codes from the same carrier terminating on their 3300 PBX. When they call outside their office's local area code they want their customers to see a caller ID with the same area code as the number they dialled.

For example our customer has a phone number (123) 3456789 at their office. When they call (123) 9876543 the person receiving the call sees (123) 3456789. When they call (321) 9876543 they want the person receiving the call to see a caller ID of (321) 3456789 which is a SIP phone number they have in that area code.

Is this possible when there is only 1 multi channel SIP trunk with the multiple phone numbers on it?

I have an issue with a Nu Point Call Directory Call Flow menu that is listening for the callers to press a key and then doing a Blind Transfer to an EHDU extension. Everything works fine in the Call Flow but the Blind Transfer to EHDU extension is failing on the outbound call to the users mobile phone. If I set the Blind Transfer to a system speed dial that then call the EHDU extension the call goes out to the users mobile just fine.

Is there a special COS to enable Nu Point Call Director to call EHDU extensions? I will need this to work as the Call Director Call flow menu also has Multi-key enabled to permit callers to dial users EHDU extensions directly.

My packet capture from the MBG show the call being placed out to the EHDU extensions mobile number via the SIP carrier like a regular call but then the MCD sends a SIP CANCEL header which of course tears down the call.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

This issue seems to have occurred after a system migration/restore to a new VM instance. I spoke with Mitel and the fix that they did for one test extension was to go into MiCollab Client Services -> Configure MiCollab Client Services -> Accounts -> Select a user with the problem -> Expand "Account Settings" -> Collaboration -> Collaboration server. This is normally set as "[Default]" and works fine but after our migration/restore this needed to be toggled to "Local MCA Server". Save this change and then go to the MiCollab Client Service Configuration menu and the "Collaboration" tab, then the Local MCA Server short cut. Now you need to click on the "Sync Now" button. You will now need to restart your UCA Client to pick up the changes.

It seems the back end database that determines the users Local MCA Server is missing the setting and out of sync with the admin interface so doing this restores the setting to the database.

Hope this helps.

We have just had a customer report the same thing to us this week. We have tried a few things to resolve it but nothing has worked. Did you find the cause of the issue yet?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Mitel 53XX Phone Firmware Upgrades
« on: March 30, 2016, 04:20:11 PM »
Is there any requirement for the Mitel 53XX phones to have a specific firmware release to work with the 3300 controller release version?

The reason I ask is that I have a customer that is having a random and very intermittent issue with the desk phones not audibly ringing when the calls are presented to the phones. It is only happening for users 3-4 times a month at the most. Mitel and I have both had a good look at their server and configs and not been able to find anything. They have a mix of 5320 and 5330e phones running software version 06.03.00.11 and some have the Mitel DECT modules and headsets.

Their 3300 is

Release level: 7.0 SP1 PR2
Active software load: 13.0.1.53

Would there be any issue upgrading their phones firmware to try resolve the issue?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / SIP Trunk Caller ID Name
« on: March 15, 2016, 07:11:28 PM »
I have noticed that the caller ID name being sent in the "From" line of the SIP header over SIP trunks is only using the first character of the callers first name i.e. John Smith is being sent as J.Smith.

Is there any way to force it to send the users full name?

We had a customer with a Fortinet FortiGate firewall that engaged support from Fortinet to disable SIP ALG. The Fortinet engineer said that even after you have disabled the SIP ALG in the config you have to cold boot the FortiGate firewall for the new setting to take affect  ::) .

Ever since then when we have dealt with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls we have found this to be true and always get our customers to cold boot the firewall after disabling the SIP ALG.

We are having an intermittent issue that is occurring across multiple users with 5320 and 5330 handsets. When receiving calls they do not get any ringing from the phones speaker but the notification light is flashing and the call details are showing on the phone screen. The phones are idle when this is happening. It happens for external SIP calls to their DID numbers and for internal calls.

Mitel had us reload the database and reboot the system but this has not changed anything. Has anyone else experienced this issue before and if so was there a fix for it?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: 5610 Headset
« on: October 19, 2015, 06:39:52 PM »
We tried the Plantronics M175 headset and it was just okay. When using the in-line mute switch or the microphone noise cancellation switch, if the remote party talked they would get a perfect echo of every word they spoke. I tested the same headset on a Grandstream VoIP desk phone with a 2.5mm headset socket and it had no issues. I think that there are major audio issues with the 5610 handsets so there may not be a good headset option because of this.  :-\

We have just rolled out 100+ of these handsets for a customer across multiple sites and have experienced the same issue. The handsets appear to be operating in a kind of half duplex mode. When ever you speak the earpiece speaker turns off for what I can only guess is an attempt to reduce/remove echo. Like wise when the remote party speaks your microphone is tuned off so to them it sounds like you are being cut off. This is particularly bad when you have some background noise on either end because the 5610 handset is constantly turning the microphone and earpiece speaker off and on.  :o

We have logged a ticket with Mitel but have not heard anything back yet. I will keep you posted.

SIP On Mitel / Re: Help looking for sip firmware for Mitel 5320 phones
« on: October 19, 2015, 05:38:42 PM »
Are you looking for firmware to upgrade the phone or just convert it to SIP?

As far as I know and have experienced, the 5320 phones are dual mode so there is a standard SIP mode built in.

1. Disconnect the power from the set.
2. Hold down the "*Superkey*" while powering up the set.
3. The set will come up and ask if you want to CONFIGURE PHONE? select YES.
4. "NETWORK PARAMETERS?" select NO
5. "HARDWARE CONFIG?" select NO
6. "PHONE MODE?" select YES
7. "PROTOCOL?" select YES
8. "PHONE MODE: Minet" select Change
9. Select "SIP", "Accept" and confirm with "Yes". It will now save the settings to NVram
10. "REBOOT NOW?" select Yes

We have a customer with multiple sites on the one PBX. Each site has a Ring Group to distribute their local customer calls to. If the calls to the Ring Groups are answered and then transferred to an external number, the outbound caller ID is being set as the the SIP trunk Default CPN. There is no way to set the CPN Substitution for a Ring Group and I have tried setting the DID Ranges for CPN Substitution for the Ring Group DN number but that makes no difference.

Has anyone done this and if so how did you achieve it?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: 5610 - Ring Groups
« on: September 20, 2015, 08:15:26 PM »
Just had final confirmation from Mitel support who took the issue back to the manufacturer (RTL). If each phone is using its own SIP extension then you can only have a maximum of 3 handsets ringing at the same time. If you use the built in ring groups feature on the 5610 base you can get 1-3 extensions ringing a maximum of 6 handsets at the same time i.e. 1 extension ringing 1 group of 6 handsets or 2 extensions ringing 2 groups of 3 handsets etc.

This means we will probably not be using this product going forward.  :(
