MSL is built off of CentOS 4.x. Find an RPM that supports the NIC chipset you want and install it. Or, build the desired drivers from source.

Have you tried rebuilding the user and this time wait for the MWI to go solid and then you the set registration code to register the phone and the look in user config to see if you have the MAC there. You may have been off by a character or something. I know I will look at numbers sometimes and think they are the same just because I assume since I entered it that it must be right.
It may not make a differnce but it may help you out.

« on: November 10, 2008, 11:45:03 AM »
You may upgrade directly to rel 9.0 from releases as old as 6.0, so this will not be the issue.
Rel 9.1 will require the hardware upgrade, if Mitel holds to true form there will be at least four intermediate releases of 9.0 before then.
The best thing to do is call Customer Support at 1-800-796-4835, you will need the App ID and possibly the p/n of the software ass.

Mitel Software Applications / Site admin login
« on: November 10, 2008, 10:43:25 AM »
If anyone out there is running rel 11.0+ and would like for the site admin to have a log in to the web client w/ restricted access you may have found out it doesn't exist. There is an open DCR on this and if enough people complain they may actually do something about it (DCR 218816).
Just thought I would throw that one out there in case someone wants to be added to the list.

Aren't there two different p/ns for software assurance, one is normal and the other is re-enlist? I believe the latter is a little higher, I guess a penalty for having it expire.
Just a thought, I have never seen this personally.

« on: November 05, 2008, 03:21:29 PM »
Ok, update time. This doesn't work quite as well as Mitel might make it seem in my opinion. I am seeing a success rate anywhere from 66% to 90% (daily). I wasn't able to find much documentation on this outside of the 9.0 self-study update course online, with good reason, there isn't anything out there. It took roughly three weeks for tech support to get the config right on this for my site, which is fairly straight forward.

The main thing that needs to be documented is that you cannot use fax profile 1, or compression zone 1. If you do so then the system will never go into T.38 mode.

As of right now, don't get it. Find another way to implement FOIP, at least until Mitel gets it together and stops charging to this commonly free feature.

I will post another update if things change with my success rates.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Translating dialed digits
« on: November 05, 2008, 01:02:17 PM »
Will all have the same area code and exchage number, "214555?" If so change the above route to have digits dialed "214555" with 4 to follow and absorb 6 and this should work.

Add both entries to allow "5551000" and "2145551000" to reach the same area.

Also, you may need to change "214555" with 4 to follow to "2145551" with 3 to follow if they need to dial 214-555-xxxx numbers at another location or on the PSTN.

Best practice is to have the users dial only the extension numbers instead of the entire number.

May I ask why you are having them dial an office code to call someone else on their system? If they are on another system that is connected via IP trunks you can simply build a route that would absorb the office code prior to sending the extension number to the other controller.
ie. ARS digits dialed "555xxx" or "555" with 4 to follow (there are many ways to program this part) goes to route "10." Route 10 will use IP trunk group 10, COR 10, and digit mod 10 (I am assuming that the other controller is not being accessed via PSTN). COR 10 should allow the user access the route, and set the digits to absorb in digit mod 10 to "3" (if your office code is three digits long).

This should get the call to the other user, you also could send all 1000 series numbers to the other controller in a similar fassion if all numbers on the other controller start with "1."

As far as dialing an extension on the same controller it should do this by default by dialing the extension number.

ie. If 1000 and 2000 are on the same controller then simply dialing "1000" will call extension 1000 even if nothing else on the controller has been programmed.

If this doesn't make sense let me know I tend to type in the same pattern in which I think which can be  a little scattered at times.

Has anyone tried out the T.38 faxing yet? I am having a hard time getting it to work properly (so is tech support though). Just wanted to see if anyone out there has taken this on yet.

I have a QUAD DSP and a DSP II along with a 128 channel ECHO Cancler. I have 2 full PRIs and one half but the normal call volume is maybe half of this.
How were you able to convice the provider that this was their issue? I am assuming this could be my problem since the CO is two blocks away.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Echo on 5340
« on: October 28, 2008, 10:52:17 AM »
I have a site with roughly 150 5340s and they are reporting intermittent echo. I do not believe that it is the network as we have a dedicated network set up strictly for their phones.
The only thing that I can find on Mitel's site refers to LS trunks (I have PRIs). Has anyone else experienced this, if so what is the fix/cause?
