Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Call from MCD 5.0 to SIP URI possible?
« on: August 14, 2014, 08:05:31 PM »
We currently have MCD 5.0 (3300ICP) at the office. A manager has asked how we can call a SIP URI (for example sip:jbloggs@sipprovider.com) from our Mitel phones.

I have never done this and am not sure if it's doable. We have just migrated to a Telstra SIP service but they are no help. Has anyone done this? Do we need additional software/hardware?

I have a demo system of MAS4.0 installed here at work. In my UCA on my laptop, I have a dynamic status titled 'Out of Office' that sends all calls to my mobile number.
The issue is when this status is selected, the phone is not forwarded. It forwards OK if I set it to forward all calls to the voicemail, but isn't working with my mobile number.
I am not in a PRG and my phone isn't an EHDU/UCM.

Any ideas on how I can get this to work? Can provide screenies, etc if required.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / MWI Button lights up but does nothing
« on: February 02, 2012, 10:26:59 PM »
MCD 5.0 - Embedded VM
I have a phantom DN (2299) that routes to ring groups during the day and to voicemail at night. I have put a MWI button on the receptionists phone with the directory number of the extension (2299).
When a message is left, the button lights up, but when she presses it, nothing happens.

The system in question is in a cluster with my current system, but each is using their embedded VM. When I program a MWI button on my phone for my office partner's extension and leave him a message, my light starts up on the button and when I press it it takes me to his VM box, the same as would happen if I walked to his phone and pressed the VM button. This is the behaviour that I want; however the remote system isn't playing ball.

I have tried setting it up on other phones at the remote site - no change.
I have tried setting up a MWI button for a physical phone extension on the remote reception phone - does the same thing (nada).

With the systems being in a cluster, they have the same CoS and other settings as my system, yet they are behaving differently. Does anyone have any ideas? I have the messages emailling out (which suits my local office fine) but they really want a light at the remote site.

Thanks.

I've been told by Mitel (and the HTML Toolkit documentation) that both Branding and Screensaver HTML apps for the phones don't require the HTML license, and that this was brought in at release 4.0.
However, when I upload a branding application to my 4.2 3300 (no SP), it won't show up to be assigned to a device unless the HTML Infrastructure license is enabled on that extension. I can set it on one (with the free leeway license) and it works fine, but then I get an error on any other phones, saying 'Number of HTML Infrastructure licenses exceeded'.
Am I being told porkies and I do need a license on <5.0 systems? If not, what else could it be?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Swapping 3300's
« on: November 27, 2011, 08:39:18 PM »
A customer had an issue last week with his CXi controller - from all accounts it sounded like a major hardware issue (and was - the POE switch had crapped itself on some of the ports). Because his office is an hour drive away, I took my demo CXi unit out with me.
I removed the I-Button and the hard drive from me demo unit (which had MCD4.2 installed on it) and replaced it with the I-Button and hard drive from his unit (running MCD 3.9) and booted up. The system came up into MCD 3.9, but had no users or trunks or anything programmed because it said the license was not installed. When I tried to get it to sync with the AMC to get the correct information, it failed - even if I tried doing it via the offline method.

From what I've been told (on the MCD Basic and Advanced courses), a system is identified by the I-button, which carries the hardware ID. What did I do wrong to have it come up saying the license is incorrect and not show any users or trunks or settings? I figured that, by replacing the hard disk as well, it should have brought all the old programming across without hassles.

(When the demo system was booting up with the customer I-Button and hard drive installed, I plugged into it via serial cable and saw that it was getting the IP address from how I had my demo system configured in the lab - this carried over even to when it had booted up correctly - I had to access it via an IP address that was completely different to the customers network)

I have the customer up and running now, but I have no idea what I did wrong, or forgot. Anyone have any ideas?

Mitel Software Applications / UCA not synching new Outlook contact
« on: November 13, 2011, 09:42:41 PM »
I've been tasked with getting UCA working in the office here and it's been going fairly well so far (touch wood).
One thing that has me stumped at the moment is Outlook Contact integration. The only way I have been able to get my Outlook contacts into UCA is by choosing 'Import Contacts' from the main menu. In the Configuration screen, under 'PIM Integration', I have my Address Book and my Contacts folder ticked and set to index every day at 9am. However, even if I click 'Index Now', newly created contacts don't appear in the UCA window.

How do I get new contacts to appear in UCA without having to import them all the time?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Call Pickup
« on: November 08, 2011, 06:24:58 PM »
I have a customer who has asked for the following to be programmed on their 3300 (4.2SP2):

A call comes in to extension 100. While they are on that call, another call comes in for that extension, and sits there, waiting for them to finish. A user at extension 101 wants to press a button (or dial a FAC) to pick up this call that's on hold.

Now, I see in the manual that Call Pickup: Directed won't work for calls on Consultation Hold, but is there any other way of getting this to work? I've spoken to them about Call Pickup groups, but they want to be able to control whose phone they go to pick up (in the event there are more than one phone in the group ringing).

Hi all,

I have a branding app that I've created with our company logo, to go in the softkey area of the 53(20/30/40) phones.

The app packages fine, but when I go to add it to my vMCD 5.0 system, I get the following output from the HTML Toolkit Uploader (version 2.2):
Code: [Select]
ERROR Couldn't read file 5330.xml
ERROR Couldn't read file 5340.xml
Uploading C:\Users\xxxxxxxx\Documents\company.spx to switch 192.168.69.210
ERROR IOException for State=FTPPUT
ERROR Error for file C:\Users\xxxxxxxx\Documents\company.spx for switch vMCD 5: Error
ERROR Unable to upload to switch "vMCD 5" (192.168.69.210)
Uploading finished

Also, when I go to upload this to another system we have here, running MCD 4.2, it uploads fine, but will only show in the list if I force 'HTML Infrastructure License' to be enabled for an extension which only works for one extension since I don't have any HTML licenses. Mitel Sales tell me that, for screensavers and branding apps, I don't need the HTML licenses.

Anyone else had any issues getting this working? How do I fix it?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / CXi, voice mail ports and DSP resources
« on: October 24, 2011, 07:19:36 PM »
We've got a 3300 CXi at a customers site, and they have only 4 VM ports programmed. In the 3300 I&M Course manual, it states:
"The case CX and CXi controllers allow up to 4 ports and, with increased DSP resources, up to 16 may be supported" (emphasis mine)
This site has the DSP card in port 3 - is this the increased DSp resources the manual references, or is there something else they will need?

Mitel Software Applications / UC Express + Terminal Server
« on: September 26, 2011, 02:13:01 AM »
I have a customer who was sold a Mitel system on the basis that they could use UC Express on their Terminal server and have it connect to their CRM on said Terminal server via TAPI. The salesman has since disappeared and I have to make it work :(

UC Express connects to this CRM just fine via TAPI on regular desktops, but I've found that TAPI and Terminal Server don't mix. Is there any way that you know of where the customer can have UC Express lookup contact information from a CRM without using 1st-party TAPI? Anyone ever gotten it working with 3rd-party TAPI?

I've set up an ACD path as an auto-attendant, and am using the Path Interflow Dialing Digits capability to direct calls where needed. The customer wants an option for the caller to hear the message again, in case they missed which digit to dial first time through.

I've set a digit (#8) to point back to the ACD path, but what happens here is they hear the MoH for 2 seconds before the message starts again. How can I get it to go directly to the start of the path without the delay? I've set the 'Delay to start seconds' to '00'; I've also tried the 'repeat last recording' with 'delay to start seconds' set to '00' also, but I can still hear the music.

We have two ISDN services in our office - an ISDN10 and 3 ISDN2's. These are set up into two trunk groups - the 10 in one and the 3 2's in another. We have a number range (8000) assigned to the ISDN10 and another range (6600) assigned to the ISDN2's.
We have set up interconnect restrictions in the 3300 to make sure that all outgoing calls from 66xx extensions go out on the ISDN2 trunk group so their DID number can be presented, and vice versa with the 8000 range.

However ...

one of the people here have set their phone (5320, though I don't think it matters) to call forward to his mobile number for Busy External/Internal and No Answer External/Internal. This works fine, except his extension is in the 66xx range and the number presenting on the mobile device is showing as the base number for the 8000 range - exactly the situation that happens when a 66xx device calls out on the ISDN10 trunk group.

If I call the mobile from his handset directly, his DID number is presented correctly.
If I call his mobile from another 66xx or 80xx handset, the correct DID number is also presented correctly.
If I set another handset in the 66xx range to forward to his mobile, the 8000 base number is shown.
if I attempt Direct Trunk Access from his handset to the ISDN10 service, the handset displays 'Call barred'. I can sieze a trunk on the ISDN2 services, which is the intended behaviour.

Does the handset's Call Forwarding ignore interconnect restrictions? I know it takes precedence over the 3300's CFFA settings, but Interconnect Restrictions?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / vMCD questions
« on: September 08, 2011, 03:05:09 AM »
We are looking at moving to a virtual MCD solution here at the office from a 3300 ICP and a few questions have been raised from management. I've looked for answers but haven't found anything that references it, I wonder if you could help me.
The questions are:
  • Can we backup our current system and restore to the virtual system, thereby keeping all our users/devices, groups and routing, or will it be necessary to enter it all from scratch?
  • Can we run the system up on a test server, then move to a production server without affecting the licensing?
  • If we use version 4.1 (the version on the virtual license file in the AMC), can we upgrade to 4.2 or 5.0 (when it comes out) without re-building/re-licensing?

Many thanks :)

A customer has CCM - Business Edition which seems to be working well - we are getting real-time data and the board is showing queue data, etc.
However, when we attempt to run a report on performance data, we get empty reports. Running a report on non-performance data works fine, though.

I have restarted the Prairiefyre Server service to no avail. When I try and view the SMDR Inspector or the ACD Inspector (to make sure the streams are coming across OK (I believe they are since the real-time data is correct - just crossing the t's and dotting the i's at this point)) I get page errors, saying the page has encountered an error - it looks just like an IIS 404 page.

Does anyone have any idea what I can try next? I am trying to narrow down the problem to either the 3300 or the prairiefyre software, but at this stage it could conceivably be both.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / VM Password Length
« on: August 23, 2011, 11:38:40 PM »
Is there a way to change the length of the standard voice mail passwords that doesn't change the extension number length in 4.2? We currently use 4-digit extensions, and the system lets me set a 6-digit VM password, but when I access my voicemail, after I press the 4th digit of the password it logs me in.
This is using the standard voicemail system in the 3300 box, not anything extra like nuPoint or anything.
Thanks!
