Thanks Bluewhite.

I think the question I should have asked is how do I change an existing "classic" v4.0 mode to V4.0 Extended. Is it just a backup, fresh install of V4.0 select Extended and restore?

17
Hi,

I have cluster of approximately 13 Mxe controllers all running V9.0 except 1 which is running V4.0 (needed 5320 IP phone support) in classic mode so that it was compatible with OPS man and the existing controllers. (used to have 62 controllers in the cluster due to Analogue provision - all hail SIP).

We were unable to migrate all the nodes to V4 due to having a large number of MX and <512Mb CX controllers in the cluster.

So my questions are:-
Can I change the existing V4.0 to run in CDM mode as we are preparing to upgrade the existing controllers?

If not
Would I be better upgrading them all to V4.0 classic then move them to v4.2 CDM at a later date?
Does V4.2 still support the use of classic and OPS Manager?
What would be the implications when we move to V5, would classic mode still be supported?

A lot of questions I know but looking for any experiences or advice as this is due to happen within the next couple of weeks?

Mitel Software Applications / Re: Mitel NuPoint Backup Script Location
« on: January 03, 2012, 12:43:04 PM »
Ralph all nupoint commands are located in the following directory.

"/usr/vm/bin"

Located in "/usr/vm/menus" are all the menus that are called when using the console via putty.

Looking at /usr/vm/menus/system.menu  - Hardisk backup calls /usr/vm/bin/vmbackup

You can find the messages located at

/usr/vm/audio/store

Unfortunately I havent been able to work out how the directory structure translates to phone numbers. If you crack that could you let me know.

Ralph,

I can honestly say this has always worked for me. But we use DTMF-PBX for MWI?

Another way of resetting MWI is using the following method - you could reset ALL mailboxes

From NPM console follow the steps below:-

startnpm: Database is online
startnpm: Starting the NPM Processes, Please wait ...
startnpm: NPM processes are running. Starting Console. Please wait...

Use the followinf to enable mailbox tracing this wll tell you when messages were REALLY left. We had a user complaining turns out it was them not checking the mailbox.

Description: How to run a mailbox access and messaging trace on Nupoint Messenger.  NB the mailbox to be analysed must already have trace enabled (FCOS bit 254 “Turn on Mailbox Message Trace”).  This cannot be enabled retrospectively for historical reporting.

1.   Access Nupoint messenger (nupoint.acme.com) via SSH
2.   Log in using the admin account
3.   Scroll to the NPM Console option (#12) and hit enter
4.   Access Mailbox maintenance (M) -> Trace Utility report (N) -> Output to console (C)
5.   Enter the mailbox to run the report against
6.   Typically, NuPoint will display the last week’s worth of logs.  Listed are the events for the mailbox under the Action column, including message Play events; Login events; Recording Caller Messages; incrementing the New Message counter; message Delete events.  NB date timestamps are output in North American format (MM/DD).

Examples
Actual Time        Message   Time              Action       Urg Unp Pld
 52:   12/14  9:56:34 am        0   12/14  9:56:34 am Login          0   0   7

A mailbox login event was recorded at 9:56am.  There were seven played messages in the mailbox and no un-played messages.

Actual Time        Message   Time              Action       Urg Unp Pld
 57:   12/14 10:02:00 am268480822   12/14  9:05:44 am Play           0   0   6

Unique message ID 68480822 was played at 10:02am.  (Additionally, from the second time stamp on the right, it is possible to see at a glance that the unique message ID 68480822 was left on the system at 09:05am that same morning.)

Actual Time        Message   Time              Action       Urg Unp Pld
 58:   12/14  1:34:35 pm268481068   12/14  1:34:35 pm Rec Clr Msg    0   0   6
 59:   12/14  1:34:35 pm268481068   12/14  1:34:35 pm New Message    0   1   6

New unique message 68481068 was left on the system at 1:34pm and the new “un-played” message counter (for Message Waiting Indication purposes) was incremented by one.

Actual Time        Message   Time              Action       Urg Unp Pld
 69:   12/15 10:00:11 am268481370   12/15  9:29:41 am Play           0   2   6
 70:   12/15 10:00:12 am268481370   12/15  9:29:41 am Delete         0   1   6

Unique message ID 68481370 was played at 10:00am and deleted shortly after.  (Additionally, from the second time stamp on the right, it is possible to see at a glance that the unique message ID 68481370 was left on the system at 09:29am that same morning.)

You lose the additional bytes due to the encryption overhead. This was also common fault on early ADSL implementations.

If the packet being generated has the DF bit set it (router?) will drop the packet.

You would need to set the mtu size on the interface the tunnel terminates on not the end devices then the terminating interfaces know to fragment and strip the DF bit.
On cisco would be
Router(config)#interface x/y
Router(config-if)#ip mtu 1472

Changing the MTU size permanently under FreeBSD

Set MTU settings by editing /etc/rc.conf file:

vi /etc/rc.conf
Modify interface xl0 as follows, enter:

1 ifconfig_xl0="inet x.x.x.x netmask y.y.y.y mtu 1472"
Save and close the file.

Restart the network:
/etc/rc.d/netif restart

Introduction and Announcements / Re: Mitel Forums Ownership

I think I speak for ecveryone in thanking Chak for starting the ball rolling. When my mitel journey began information was scarce at best.

I'm sure Ralph will do a sterling job and get help from us all here.

I'd go so far as to say theres more "correct" technical information here than the whole of edocs (where I can never find anything any way - lol)

26
Ralph is correct.

What version of CCM are you running. I've heard some horror stories regarding 5.8

Other option to boot Nupoint just button it !! I had the same problem.

1) Backup Nupoint to USB.
2) Do a "FRESH" install of MSL NOT UPGRADE - make a note of all your settings first and your Application recrod ID. Then manually put them in DO NOT back up MSL and restore.
3) Re-install Nupoint.
4) Restore Nupoint.

Just looked at the SIP interop on edocs. Looks like lots of issues with call forwarding / conferencing etc with numerous endpoint.

What endpoints are you using?

30
Had this problem when using SIP converters the 2 devices connected to the converters cannot transfer calls.

I got a couple of Wifi SIP phones here these cannot do conferencing either using the FAC. Although havent looked at this in a while
