I am replacing an existing SX-50 PBX with a new SX-200ICP AX controller, just about everything is working as I would expect but I don't really understand the Night Bells and the tech handbook is less than clear on it. I am very familiar with the SX-200 and know the Night Bells work differently in the 200 than the 50, but on the AX controller there are no relays, so once you program a PLID as a Night Bell, does that ONS port become a relay or does it actually present ringing voltage when activated?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Call Forward Profile failed to activate
« on: February 19, 2013, 12:00:38 PM »
So I have a cluster of about 10 controllers that is at 4.2, and they have been having issues where using the Call Forward Profiles on 5330/5340 phones fail to activate, some phones can't edit the numbers or enter numbers, and some can't build new profiles where others can. Most of them are in 4 different COSs, but in all of them the Call Forward options are enabled as are the HCI/CTI/TAPI options. What would cause this, using the FAC for the call forwards works every time.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Upgrading to 6.0
« on: February 04, 2013, 05:52:20 PM »
Anybody done any upgrades to 6.0 yet? I am planning on doing an upgrade to a small 3 site cluster Wednesday night well after business hours from 4.2 to 6.0, just wondering if anyone has done any upgrades to 6.0 yet, ran into any issues or problems, etc?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Caller ID Name in SMDR
« on: December 11, 2012, 09:58:57 AM »
Is there a way to do this on the 3300? I have a customer who is capturing his own SMDR for a external program and would like to get the Caller ID field but when I look at all the examples for SMDR I do not see the Caller ID field anywhere with any options enabled. I do see one option in SMDR options called "Standardized Call ID Format" but that doesn't seem to be related to Caller ID. Is this possible?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Toll Fraud issues
« on: December 07, 2012, 09:47:01 AM »
I have a customer who has a 3300 v4.2 who has been getting a lot of VM toll fraud lately, hackers are getting into mailboxes and changing the operator extension to various 011 or out of country area code numbers. Besides restricting the COR of the VM extensions and the COR of the trunks (for Trunk-Trunk transfer) they want to change the VM passcode length in the embedded VM. What I am wondering, is if we go into the VM and change the System Passcode length, how is it handled to the users? Are all mailboxes returned to the default passcode or the next time the user logs in are they forced to change their passcoode to one that conforms with the new length, or what, and how is the admin/operator mailboxes affected, we already changed all levels of passcodes on those mailboxes from the default?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / "Panic" Notify feature?
« on: November 27, 2012, 05:54:52 PM »
I have a customer that is moving from an Avaya Partner to the 5000, and on the old Avaya they had a feature on the phone labelled "Panic" and when pressed it would silently make a one-way intercom call to preset extension that would be notified with a tone and a message in the display in the event there was an issue with a client in the office or on the phone and they need immediate assistance. I have seen something like this in call centers called "Assist". Is there something on the 5000 like this?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Edgewater PoE Switches and the 5000
« on: November 15, 2012, 04:17:45 PM »
I have three sites that have a Edgewater Networks EdgeConnect 2402PoE Switch http://edgewaternetworks.com/products/edgeconnect-switch/overview.html (We use a TON of these switches for out hosted SIP service and they just work, never have to touch them once setup)

All three of these sites are relatively smaller, with 15-24 IP phones that are all Mitel 53xx series phones, and are basic, flat networks... no VLANs, one DHCP server with option 43 built, etc. with v5.0 or v5.1 Mitel 5000 HX systems, and the switches are all just factory defaults except for an IP address appropriate for the network and PC's connected through the phones. The issue that seems to crop up is about once every month two is if a phone is unplugged and reconnected, it won't reconnect to the 5000, it gets DHCP and sees option 43 then goes all the way to the "SET IP: xx.xx.xx.xx ICP: xx.xx.xx.xx" screen and just sits there and never connects. All the other phones continue to work properly, even if their DHCP expires and is renewed, but if any phone is unplugged the same issue occurs and they just get stuck at the same screen. Power cycling the switch solves the problem in every instance. PC's and other devices that are disconnected/reconnected have no issues. The kicker is that I have the same switches installed on smaller Mitel 3300's with similar phones and this issue never occurs, I also have these switches installed in two sites that have VLANs configured, never had an issue either. Any thoughts?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Clustered call park issues
« on: November 07, 2012, 04:46:53 PM »
I have a customer that has an 11 site cluster, with resilient phones across various nodes, that was just upgraded from 9.0 to MCD 4.2 (all the farther we could go due to other equipment compatibility).

Here is the issue I am having:

Call comes in to Node 2 on a PRI and is answered by a phone that is resilient to Node 2&1 (Node 2 primary, 1 secondary), and parks the call on a resilient phantom hunt group extension (Node 1 primary, node 2 secondary). When this happen the caller hears MOH for about 3 seconds then silence, but is still parked and can be retrieved. If the user just puts the call on hold, or parks it on an actual extension, the MOH works fine.

If a call comes in to Node 1's PRI and is answered by a phone that is resilient to Node 1&2 and parks it on the same hunt group, the MOH works fine.

I never heard a complaint of this issue on 9.0.

The only thing I can see in programming is that is COS option "Local Music on Hold source" on the PRI's COS, I have tried it both ways with no change in the behavior... What am I missing?

So tonight I had to re-IP a voice VLAN, changing the subnet from 172.16.0.0/23 to 10.110.132.0/22... That all went fine, 3300 (MCD4.2), Mobile Extension, UCA, 6510 VM, SpectraLinks, Extreme Network switches, etc., got everything working but the console is giving me headaches. The keypad comes online, so I ran the Configuration Wizard to set the new ICP address, and it communicated properly with the ICP but still is trying to connect to the old IP address as well as the new one, when it did the "Cluster check for additional ICP's" it still shows the original IP address (this is not a clustered system, and there are no entries for elements except the local one) as well as the new one and keeps defaulting to the old address as the Primary ICP and when I run the console it won't come up. So I went into the system configuration file that says plainly "DO NOT EDIT" and found the old IP address and replaced it with the new one and ran the console, now the console works... sort of... you can answer and make calls and use all functions of the console EXCEPT the BLF field shows all extensions idle all the time. What am I doing wrong?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / High-End Set Handset Config errors?
« on: October 04, 2012, 05:33:14 PM »
Doing a migration of a cluster from 9.0/OPSMAN to MCD4.0, getting things all in sync getting ready to convert to RDN and go up again... getting a weird error I can't find...

Forms Comparison:

Comparing High-End Set Handset Config between Cityhall and Policedp

Detail:
Record (DN:1405, Handset Mode:1, Left Handset Type:1) only exists on Cityhall
Record (DN:1424, Handset Mode:1, Left Handset Type:1) only exists on Cityhall
Record (DN:1594, Handset Mode:1, Left Handset Type:1) only exists on Cityhall
Record (DN:1860, Handset Mode:1, Left Handset Type:1) only exists on Cityhall
Record (DN:1937, Handset Mode:1, Left Handset Type:1) only exists on Cityhall

Summary:
147 records compared
147 records match
5 records only exist on Cityhall

Everything else is in sync between 11 nodes except this... This one is new to me... any ideas on how to correct this?

EDIT: All of these devices exist as primary in Policedp and resilient in Cityhall, we removed the resiliency, verified they were gone from Cityhall, then put the resiliency back in place and the problem still exists. Weird.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Handsfree Page to 5304 sets?
« on: August 13, 2012, 03:01:42 PM »
I am setting up a system on the bench that will have 28 5304 sets and can't seem to do a handsfree intercom call to them, but a "Page" via Paging Zones works fine. Anybody had any luck getting a handsfree intercom call to work to a 5304 set. I know they do not have a mic, I just want to be able to one-way page to a specific set.

Non-Mitel Chatter / 4Shared or other (free) file hosting
« on: July 30, 2012, 08:43:39 PM »
Well, some of you know I maintain a fairly large collection of Inter-Tel, Mitel, and ESI software and documentation that I am currently hosting on 4shared.com, but it has come to my attention that they are now requiring people to sign in/join their site to download those files even when I specifically give them the link (This is not a public collection, I must specifically give out the link to these files).

I really am not liking that people need to sign-up or login to download the files so I am looking for a site where I can host approximately 2GB of data (currently, but it is constant growing collection) that is secure, not searchable by the public, and doesn't have bandwidth restriction, but open to someone who has the specific link and doesn't require them to login or register (CAPTCHA or other pause is acceptable though).

I have been playing a bit with box.com with other projects, but it is capped at 5.0GB for free and has some bandwidth restrictions, so for now that would work OK but I am looking for a more permanent solution, any suggestions.

Non-Mitel Chatter / MitelForums IRC Channel?
« on: July 16, 2012, 10:04:25 AM »
So, do we have an IRC channel people can go to? Is this something people are interested in?

For the less-savvy Internet user, IRC is Internet Relay Chat or more generally a real-time chat room that would (in this case) be dedicated for Mitel Forum users and Mitel topics where we could communicate and help people with issues in real time.

If people are interested in this, I could probably get it setup, there are IRC channels for all kinds of stuff, finding the hosting and getting it setup shouldn't be a problem.

Non-Mitel Chatter / Captcha Sucks!!!
« on: June 26, 2012, 07:57:39 PM »
Anyone else have a terrible time with the Captcha here? I usually have to enter it at least 3 times before I get it correct and often have to request another image, rarely have that issue at other sites but it seems like almost everytime I have to give it several tries here.

I recently did an migration from a LW19 platform with an external VM to a SX200ICP with embedded VM in a hospitality environment. Everything seems OK with the VM until a guest room call arrives in the VM (the room is Checked In)... the VM answers and starts to say the expected guest room greeting then the strangeness occurs, what is heard is "The party you are calling is unav... Your message is too short and has been discarded" then the caller is sent back to the main greeting. I have verified the proper COS is applied to the VM ports and they seem to be programmed correctly, any ideas? BTW, there are no admin mailboxes and I haven't built one to test with yet, and if the room is not checked in the VM functions properly and plays a message then transfers the caller to the operator. Probably gonna call tech support in the morning, but thought I would run it by here first.
