I have a customer that had some SIP phones that we had files in the /sysro/tftp directory, but after upgrading from 5.0 to 6.0 it appears these files are gone. Is it possible to FTP into the inactive software load on a controller and retrieve these files so they could be moved into the active load?

Sorry, off for a few days and have a customer that contacted me with a quick question, and I don't have access to a system at the moment...

If a 5340 phone is call forwarded to another extension and then disconnected (unplugged and shipped off), will the calls still forward? I know a few systems that won't do this, but I can't remember if the 5000 is one of them.

Got to replace a couple tech's laptops in the next few weeks... Looks like I am looking for a couple 17" with Win 7 Pro, pretty easy until you try to find one with a physical serial port, having a real problem. We had been using the HP Elitebook series (8560/70p and 8760/70p) until now, but they seem to be discontinued and the new 8770w's and other 17" commercial grade HP's don't have serial ports. Any suggestions?

I have been looking at the 8770w's with Digi Edgeport/1 adapters, since they seem the most reliable and configurable ones available (http://www.digi.com/products/usb/edgeport#overview), anybody using this configuration successfully>

Are the left and right buttons really needed? Is there not another way to do this on these phones, seems like a waste of two buttons? Doesn't Hold and Transfer buttons work on these models when entering information?

I need to do an upgrade of Telworker 4.5 to Multi-Protocol Border Gateway 5.1 but can't find the part number, can anyone help me out here... mid-install and Mitel is being, ummm, less than helpful. I know it's a free part, just can't find the number I need to order.

Mitel Software Applications / QQ setting up replacement MSL server

So I am setting up a new replacement MSL server that needs to be pre-built, loaded, and configured then shipped out. My question is if I change the sysid in AMC and build up the new server and load the blades (this is an older MSL 8.5.17 server), will the old server continue on like normal since it syncs every few hours and it will see that the AMC app record and it's ID don't match anymore? Will this be an issue if it takes a week or two to get the new server up and running?

Had a customer call me thinking they had a bad phone... Saying the dial tone sounded "muffled and choppy" and pressing numbers on the keypad sounded distorted/cutting out. Went onsite to take a look and indeed the internal dial tones sounds, I don't know, weird slightly distorted and a come and go muffled like, and pressing the number buttons sounded kind of choppy/broken but the phone seems to function fine otherwise, audio quality in call is excellent. Seemed to start right after upgrading from 5.1 to 6.0 PR5 last week.

Anyone else notice this?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / 5330 set won't update or boot

Pulled a "new" 5330 out of the box and plugged it in,  starts upgrading then freezes at 256 and "L2 Download Error" and just keeps resetting... Both main and boot version currently show version 1.0.0.23, bad phone or anybody got any ideas?

Anybody know where I can get the installation ISO image, it isn't available from Mitel any longer and I have a server that needs to be rebuilt and this is the latest version I can use that supports Mobile Extension with MBG as a standalone application.

I know links to stuff like this cannot be posted here, feel free to PM me.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Setting up DHCP options

So I am in the middle of installing a 5000 at a small office with 8 phones, and will be using the embedded DHCP server for the phones, that is all working correctly... the Cisco switch is using LDAP to push the phones to VLAN 6, and they are getting Option 125 and coming online normally. I have a port for maintenance that I want to be able to plug into and get DHCP and be able to access the system and the Internet, my laptop gets an IP address in the correct VLAN from the 5000 but I can't seem to figure out how to setup DHCP Option 6 to hand out the DNS servers so I can access the Internet. Setting it statically in the laptop works, but I would prefer to have it automatic, plus I want to know for future reference where there are no VLANs but the Mitel is handing out all DHCP.

I thought I had it right, but there is no option for multiple IP addresses, and when I set Option 6 to a single IP address my laptop never even gets that one. My setting for Option 6 is below... What I want it to hand out for DNS addresses is "24.220.0.10,24.220.0.11" but I just can't for the life of me figure out how to do it.

Mitel Software Applications / Mitel 6510 Server UC Clients won't connect

OK, so I have a fairly large customer that has a Esna 6510 VM server that has been in place for a long time, every once in a while the UC clients won't connect anymore, they get "UC Client Manager - Connection had timed out"... We had a tech that was certified and knew the system and could fix this fairly quickly as it seemed to happen occasionally (few times a year)... well, that tech is no longer with us and no one knows how/what to do, any ideas? Is this just a restart xxx service on the server or something, all services appear to running.

I had a customer that recently had a router fail, the router was supplying DHCP to the phones and the 5000 address was statically assigned in the phone, they just received their router and connected it, initially, all the phones came up and worked properly, but now all phones will not boot and give an exception error at DHCP Discovery that is this:

EDIT: customer just sent me a pic of the phones in a failed state, think I know what's going on... at DHCP Discovery they are getting:

Had them put the phone in Teleworker mode and point it manually to the 5000 and it came up, looks like their IT vendor messed up the option 43.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / T1/LS on embedded T1/E1 trunk module

I have a customer with an unusual older T-1, which has to stay this way for while, right now it is connected to an old NSU and functioning proper... it is a T1/ESF (not PRI) that is running in T1/LS Trunk mode with separate numbers on each of the channels. I tried moving this circuit to an embedded dual T1/E1 module, duplicating the programming of the NSU in the 3300 on the T1/E1 module and could not get the trunks to work. The T1 would sync up but the channels would show as out of service no matter what I did.

Anybody have any experience with this type of setup on a newer T1/E1 card, is it even supported?

The only reason this is an issue is since they upgraded to 6.0SP1 they have issues with echo on those trunks only, so they want to do away with the NSU and use the dual T1/E1 card that is sitting idle in the controller, thinking it might help the echo issues.

We put in an 8-port unit with two Polycom SIP phones for testing and it is working beautifully, thinking about some larger installations... just looking for some feedback on anyone using this product.
