This is from one of our customers:
It seems that there has been a change in the way that 3300 ver 5.0 now handles multi-call rings. Before our upgrade, when we had a multi-call ring to our Help Desk extension all phone would ring at the same time. Now when there is a call, the phones ring in a cascading fashion. I would like to know if there is a work around for this as it can be rather annoying.
I haven't seen this before. Has anyone else experienced it?

Is it just a ring group that has been changed from a ring all group to a cascading group by accident, or the upgrade changed it some how?
-
It's not a ring group. It's a prime line that appears on multiple phones as a multicall key.
It is in a personal ring group for mobility.

Hmm, when I re-read the subject of the thread it makes sense that it wasn't a ring group. :)
Haven't experienced it, but will try and test it to see if I can duplicate it.

does the multicall key flash before it rings (like delayed ring)? how many users in the multicall?
-
12 users with the multicall key. 3 of them are 4025s.
I had the system rebooted. No change.
Then I had the tech delete the entire ring group and re-create it but it's still doing the same thing.

Are you sure that it's a mulicall line and not a single line which is a member of this Ring Group?
Maybe it's just the label on the phone that show the main number of the Ring Group.
I would suspect that the key are member of a Ring Group and the ring group mode is Cascade Ring instead of Ring All.
-
No. It's multicall.
We even experimented and went into the Multiline Appearance Groups and changed it to a keyline appearance and tested. Same result.
One of the things we notices is that when we deleted the button and started adding it to the other phones, the issue became more pronounced with the more phones we added the line to.

Time to update this.
Working with Mitel, it was discovered there is an issue with 5.0.
A KB was generated for this: 12-5191-00269
Here's the root cause:
The problem was introduced in MCD 5.0 and the delay is caused by checking Call Forward conditions externally with the use of the Second Dial Tone option. This checking criterion is required for outgoing calls but not incoming calls. The improper checking criterion causes delayed ring/cascade ring on incoming calls.
