MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: Finally getting trained on the 5000
« on: August 24, 2012, 05:32:23 PM »
I've been doing 5000 for about 8 months where i have done 3300 since release 3.1 and sx2000 since SG,S,VS days.
Well what a great switch!!!!!
I'm still a massive fan of the 3300 (maybe biased somewhat) as the 3300 is stable, clustering is great, scales large etc etc.
But for small to medium sites the 5000 has all you need!
And i have to mention the built in voicemail....superb!
Ralph you mentioned maybe inbound trunk attributes will improve in 3300 MCD 6. Its things like that which let the 3300 down, there is so much they need to do to make the 3300 better where other pbx's are better at.
Although i find 5000 need the occasional reboot to fix lines issues etc, where 3300's on recent sw loads just run.
I wonder sometimes whether resiliency, multinode hotdesking would be available on the 5000, or whether its a political thing within Mitel, i.e CSM not working with ACD2 grrrrrr!!!!
I love a good conspiricy :)

Ralph, i loved the course, and i am sure you will too!

thanks.
thats what i thought next, do a backup/restore. Although its happening on 2 systems within the same customer which was wierd. I think they are both on a 7.1 load so maybe its a thing about that sw load.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / There are no more room for records
« on: August 20, 2012, 05:10:31 PM »
Hi,

I have a couple of CX's running 7.1 software.
Recently i have been trying to add phones and keys and i get this message whenever i try to save.
Now on the SX2000 this could be something to do with Dimensions etc etc but these CX's only have about 10-11 phones on.
I am thinking a backup/restore but don't want to if anyone has any better ideas, talking to Mitel will be a battle as they have no software assurance and i will need to plead with my leader to pay for a ticket on a tiny maintenance contract.

Cheers

I am guessing these are UK number ranges.
As what Ralph says if you are being sent 4 digits from the exchange on the same circuit with 2 ddi ranges then thats a problem.
However in my experience these days you get sent 6 digits so you would get 31xxxx and 01xxxx being sent, so that would not be a problem. Or you could ask your service provider to change the amount of digits being sent.
I wish the 3300 was more flexible with its incoming.....maybe one day :)

Mitel Software Applications / Re: Voice Mail Options

Hello,

A year or so ago i was contracted to another Mitel Reseller to install a Nupoint to replace the Enterprise Server on a 5000. Unfortunately due to problems upgrading the 5000 to the level needed to support Nupoint and being involved with other projects i didn't get to make it live with the 5000. Roll on a couple of weeks and the customer hated it, said it was too slow to answer, and other various problems with it (which i think that was because Nupoint integration with a 5000 was new), the server got ripped out and replaced with the onboard 5000 voicemail.
In my opinion if you are not going to use full UM with Exchange etc etc and don't need 10's of thousand of mailboxes i can't honestly see why you would need Nupoint over 5000 voicemail. I have only been working with the 5000 for a short period of time and i think the vm is brilliant what it can do out of the box.
I see what you are saying about the Nupoint on MAS integrating with the other apps, but its so easy to set up vm etc on a 5000 i don't think there is a massive benefit to it.
For us 3300 techs/users Nupoint is great as our own embedded vm system is good for just mailboxes but a headache for any decent auto attendant setups, i guess Mitel have developed the Nupoint to work on 5000 as they want all their products to work with both phone systems.
All i can say is maybe get Mitel to demo it to you and see what you think....i personally wouldn't bother with a Nupoint for a 5000, i am sure there may be others here who could shed some more light on Nupoint with 5000 :)

If you do a LOCATE NUMBER xxx and it refers to something like non prime broadcast group it will probably be a key on a phone or maybe a console softkey (I think!).

On older sw loads you can go into multiline set group assignment or on the more recent loads multiline appearance groups and search for the number, that will tell you what phone the key is on and what key number, so you can delete it if needed and recreate somewhere else.

i guess that would be the conference call from hell if it lasted a week   :o
I wonder if the sip for expires timer is similar to the session timer on sip trunks.
I could be wrong but if it does the same thing, on some of my sites by setting the session timer to 0 stops calls being dropped, or in other words the pbx doesn't tear the call down after the timer expires.
I wonder if your timer can be set to 0, but i guess a week is enough.
Glad you got it working though!

Hello,
1st time poster here although joined a while ago  :D
Attached is the docs for the Polycom 6000.
I can see that some of your settings are wrong.
If you still get the calls cutting off i guess the best thing would be a wireshark trace and see which end is terminating the call and what error you are getting.
Let us know how you get on.
