Mitel Software Applications / Mitel e911 Server
« on: October 27, 2023, 12:08:05 PM »
Does Mitel still have a server based solution for emergency calling?
I seem to remember that there was once a server addon for the 3300.  I can't find anything about it now.

My first thought would be that it's something in the COS of the transferring port.
I'd go through that first.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Mitel 5300 phone EOL / EOS
« on: October 04, 2023, 04:50:39 PM »
I'm trying to find out when end of support for the 5300 (not 'e' variant) will be end of support.
At the same time, will these phones still be supported on the 3300?
The reason I ask is because we need to upgrade our servers (version 8.0) but don't want to lay out the cash right now for all new phones.

Anyone have any input?

Mitel Software Applications / Teleworker TLS Version
« on: October 04, 2023, 09:29:58 AM »
Our TW server (MiCollab) is failing an audit because we're using TLS v1.0.
The problem is, we can switch to v1.2 because we have 5330s and 5340s non "e" variant. Old phones.
The phones don't work with v1.2.

My question is, do 5330e and 5340e variants work with TLS v1.2?

Message waiting has caused me no end of grief over the years because it does dial the last number that lit the light.
The problem is a user may light the light.  Then  when the user presses the button it calls the user that light the light and if the user doesn't answer the light stays lit so the user thinks they have voicemail when they don't.

I suggest that you 1) have the user press the button and be sure whoever lit the light answers.  or 2) enable the COS that allows the user to delete the message waiting indicator.

What would this be for?  Something at someone's desk so they could spy on them?

Or is it something like a door phone where they need something triggered when someone at the door goes off hook?

Assuming you're working with an MCD as well, try programming a system speed dial, be sure to tick "Override Toll Control" and try transferring to that number instead.

If you do a Locate Ext <extn> it will show you where the device is logged in.
To log the device out remotely the command is Busy Reset <ext>

Is it no audio or one way audio?
One way audio is always a network issue, probably a routing issue.
Make note that when a device makes a call, the IP traffic bypasses the PBX.
Check the network settings in your MiCollab server and be sure all your networks are permitted there.

Does it work if you use the FAC to directly select the trunk?

Whenever I've had trouble with outbound calls with analog lines it was because the Mitel was trying to dial out before the lines were ready to receive the digits. The solution was to add a one second delay before the digits were outpulsed.
The way to do that is to add a tone detect in the digit mod.  It looks something like this: <T01>.
The <T01> refers to the tone detect plan.  I usually programmed it to wait one second for a tone I knew it would never detect.

It's been a while since I've used DTS keys.
If I remember correctly you're not able to xfer those lines anywhere so the application is limited.

Sure.  As long as nothing conflicts the 1 (required) you can set up the ARS to dial 1<areacode><number>.
Just don't absorb the 1 like you do the 9.

I suspect that the carrier is blocking the calls because when the call is sent out to the twinned device it's using the caller ID of the original caller. You can verify it by doing a SIP capture and looking for the REJECT packet.

It would probably work just fine if you sent it out your copper trunks.

You could add it's extension to your extension as a non-ringing line.  Then it would flash as a call comes in.
