In case anyone has come across the frustration of not being able to back up or restore systems recently, and receiving an error that Java is required,and you are running Windows 7, and IE9, and have run the latest round of windows updates, then you need to check out KB12-5191-00282 on MOL.

There is a fix for the problem, and it has to be applied to each system that you have issues with and according to the KB it will be fixed in the next release of MCD, but effects anything from MCD 4.0 and above, so looks like we are stuck with the problem.

As they don't say which update it is that has cause the issue it is hard to figure out which one needs to be removed (if it can be) and not installed.

On the embedded vm you can set the message to delete when it is forwarded via e-mail to the user. Is this possible to do this on NP?

I haven't been able to find an FCOS bit that seems to fit the bill?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Clustering systems issues

I'm having an issue clustering a couple of systems together. One of the systems was originally a stand alone licence, and has since been upgraded to enterprise, and can now do IP networking, etc. All good there.
I am having a problem though setting up the cluster. On the "master" controller I have created a cluster, assigned it a PNI, and added the second controller as a network element. In the network element I have also told it to be a member of the cluster, and assigned it a PBX ID. I have also assigned both controllers a CEID and Feature DN in the cluster elements form.
On the second controller I have also added a network element of the first controller, with associated PBX ID.
All ports between the controllers are open, so communication shouldn't be an issue there.

When I look at the second controller though it does not know it is a member of the cluster, and just asks to create a new one as none exist.

Is there something I have missed, or something screwy you reckon?

I'm having a problem where Nupoint is not allowing mailboxes to have a passcode the same as their mailbox number. I've tried this on a couple of systems and have had the same result on both.
All users have the same FCOS. The FCOS has options options 70 & 73 set, and option 130 cleared. I have also set the MAS password strength to weak to verify that this isn't causing the issue.

The system is running vMAS 3, and I have also tested it on a vMAS 4 system with the same result. In the case that I am working on, the vMAS 3 instance doesn't have any other apps running on it apart from Nupoint.

If you go through the tutorial and try and set the pin as the mailbox number you get rejected with the message that the new pin isn't valid as it cannot be the same as the mailbox number. The mailbox number is a 4 digit number so it isn't because it's too short either by being a 3 digit mailbox.

Has anyone come across this before and managed to get around it?

Have got a strange one that I can't quite put my finger on.
A MCD 5.0 PR1 system with 2 operator consoles. Every morning when the receptionists come in and start up their PC's they also have to reboot the console keypad.
If you fire up the console software without rebooting the key pad then the software doesn't come on-line, and the first few icons remained ghosted out.
If you reboot the keypad and restart the software then all is fine.

At this stage I haven't collected logs, but will be doing that tomorrow, but just thought I'd raise it in the meantime to see if others had any ideas!

Something that came up the other day, but I haven't been able to find a need for yet, and can't find anyone that can actually say what their purpose is for, apart from that's just the way I've been told to do it.

What do people use NameTag hunt groups for? I've traditionally used voice HG's and apart from RAD, Vmail, etc groups, have never had a need for NameTags as I've seen them there but never known how they differ.
I've had a read through the help files, etc, but can't find specific circumstances where you would want to use them.

Have just come across a new post on MOL that mentions using the tenant command to set the universal presance back if it is incorrectly changed during an upgrade.

I hadn't come across the tenant command before in any of the documentation, so have had a look through and it seems slightly useful, but it has got me wondering what other commands are there? Has anyone else come across any CLI commands that allow you to configure UCA?

example of the tenant command is:
tenant getids
or
tenant set (prints a list of available options)

For those that have already had a play with it, and possibly put one in to production, has anyone found where they have now hidden the HCI/CTI call control option that used to be on the licence and option screen?

I am trying to import our standard COS options CSV and for every COS that we have HCI/CTI enabled I get an error back saying that the "HCI/CTI Basic Telephony option or TAPI support must be in effect."

Has anyone come across the error, or know where they have shifted the HCI/CTI setting to?

Mitel Software Applications / UCA Client importing Outlook Contacts

Have got a slightly strange one here, where there are 10 users running UCA 4.1, a mixture of Office 2007 and Office 2010, most can import contacts, but 3 can't. The option to import contacts is greyed out, and is not selectable. It's not limited to one version of Outlook, as two of them are 2010, and 1 is 2007.

Has anyone come across this before and found a solution to a slightly odd problem?

I've got an issue where if the user is running in teleworker mode externally then they don't get the call control pop up window when using their soft phone. If they are running internally and use it then they get the call control window.

Is there anything that should be set, or any specific requirements for when you are running in TW mode to allow for the call control? UCA version is 4.0.27, and MBG server is 5.2.17.

The user is mainly frustrated by the fact that they can't end a call when they ring someone, and for example get their voicemail. They leave a message, but then can't hang up the call!
