Title: Changing the number of rings before voicemail
Post by: gtroth on June 25, 2020, 01:47:53 PM
Hello everyone,

I am new to this phone system and unfortunately no one here at our company has any working knowledge of the system so it has been trial by error for me.  I am not overly tech savvy and am not familiar with most of the lingo used in the forums.  Forgive me if this is explained more simply in another post.

I am trying to change the number of rings our system uses before it goes to voicemail.  I have the admin login to our MiVoice Office 250.  I have looked in the Hunt Group section but am unable to find a place to change any timers in the hunt group.  I can put different users into a Hunt Group, but I don't see any other sections.

Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to offer.
Mike

Change the Forward Initiate timer under System Timers.

Dumb question, where would I find System Timer?

I have attached a screenshot of the Hunt Group.

If my post doesn’t make sense, you shouldn’t be messing with the phone system.

Get a qualified vendor and pay them for a couple of hours labor to make any necessary changes, and then back up the database. Your phones are the lifeblood of the business.

Fair enough, thank you for your input.  :)

To clarify what DND ON was saying... System Forward Initiate is a system level timer that you need the proprietary database programming software to change, it is not a "admin" level change that can be done in the web GUI. The web GUI is basically there for day to day changes, change names, add/remove hunt group members, change Vmail to Email addresses, etc and not to make significant changes to the system. If you do not have access to this software, I would suggest contacting your vendor. A good vendor would make this change for you and only charge a small remote maintenance fee (assuming they have remote access to the system).
