I've used MicroSIP before on site, never connected it remotely through a firewall.

I also use microsip a lot for testing. But it was always through the MBG or VPN remotely. I reckon as long as the Firewall is SIP aware, then it could work.

MX-One: MGU Password recovery

Question
How do I recover a lost password for MGU?

Environment
MX-One Media Gateway (MGU or MGU2) running 2.x firmware or later

Answer
If you have lost the 'admin' password this can be reset if you have the 'root' password:
  • Connect to MGU via the USB-serial port and login as 'root'
  • Run the 'mgu-setup' tool with --set-password USER parameter. E.g:
    > mgu-setup --set-password admin
  • system will prompt for a new password (requires strong password, 5 - 8 characters, combining upper, lower-case letters and numbers).

If you have lost the 'root' password but still have the 'admin' password, please contact Mitel Support for a procedure to recover.

If you have lost BOTH passwords they cannot be recovered. Factory reset does not reset the passwords. Please follow your local RMA process to replace the MGU in this case.

ZuluAlpha and sarond are correct...

Your phones will register to the Master....

First, fix the site access. If ping doesn't even work, then it could mean the network isn't working as it's supposed to be.
You can do a ping test from the Master to an IP from the remote site via Telnet. if I am not wrong, in R4.1 or <R5, you can telnet to port 23 and do ping or dnsquery rfom there. At least you can also check that direction.

19
What checks have you made?
What are the terminals? Mitel SIP? Standard SIP? Does the system have the required terminal licenses?
Is the ping, at least, between the sites OK? Are you able to access WebAdmin from the remote site?
If you run VoIP trace (telnet 1818) check the SIP messages especially when at the time when the phones try to register.
You can also run a Wireshark trace on both sides to see what could be wrong.

I've worked out a solution but it requires an AA profile per target user as well as 2x Virtual mailboxes for the greetings. Anyway, it will be too much of a task just to have a different greeting when a user is either busy or not answering... I've managed to convince the customer that a single/general message stating the user is unavailable does the job and CFB or CFNR goes straight to the user's vm.

Locking this one up.

I need some advice on a customer requirement.

When callers try and reach a user, they should hear different greetings for the user's CFNR and CFB settings. But the setting should allow callers to leave a voice message on the user's own voicemail box in both scenarios. (CFNR and CFB)

Is there a way to fulfill this? Especially without complicating things?

It sounds like they are on MiNET firmware so you might need to switch the firmware to SIP. A search here should give you some guidance on hot to do it.

23
Check Blacklisting under the MX-ONE CPI Library.

Yes on Another system with Webadmin , not the AMS. I cannot  Webadmin on this  site because is only dialup available.  I have been using the Announcement service to upload the Greeting but I keep getting " These file names are incorrect"

you can try this...
Once you are connected via dialup, use Filezilla (FTP) client and connect to the system using the PPP over RAS IP Address. (default 192.168.105.1) login with the system credentials.

Then browse to the vm folder where the mailboxes are. You can change the audio file there as long as it is named correctly and of course, is the right format. If you see illegal to the file name after it was uploaded, it means the format is wrong.

SIP On Mitel / Re: Mitel 6930 Blue/Blank Screen
« on: May 04, 2023, 11:13:19 AM »
The Mitel logo only shows on boot in SIP mode, in MiNET mode the whole screen is blue with no logo. That's a handy clue for figuring out what mode f/w the phone has on it.

Good info... now I know. Thanks!

SIP On Mitel / Re: Mitel 6930 Blue/Blank Screen

In case you still see the logo appear at boot (if on SIP FW), you could take a chance and try forcing it to web recovery. But from the looks of it, it is bricked.

27
So the same file works on another system? If so, have you tried uploading it directly to the target mailbox via FTP when you are dialled into the system? You'll have to name it accordingly (e.g. greeting1.wav).

28
The pcap trace taken from the MBG doesn't have any RTP in the calls for either way?

29
Apparently, I turned on one part which was for the intrusion method. After disabling it under MIR/ASC Global Recording Settings, the active device recording (without MBG) now works.

Question for the MiVO Office 400 admins and users, how do you facilitate a requirement from customers who want their users to dial IDD using a PIN code?

What we usually do is create an abbreviated number for each real user and give them that as their "IDD PIN code". But in reality, it is remote control using a virtual user with IDD access.
-Real user 200 is only allowed for local calls
-Virtual user 300 has IDD access. PIN 1234
-Exchange access = 9
-Create ABB 7000 = #363001234
-Assign user 200 with IDD PIN 7000 for dialling IDD.
-User 200 dials 7000 9 <IDD No.>
-Call logging will show 300 made the call which will be traced back to user 200.
