Hi, we recently had a company split and no longer need access to the Mitel systems in the other locations. What is the proper way to remove them from our system, and are there any caveats we need to keep in mind? I don't mind just leaving them if there's possible issues, since the only thing it really seems to affect is which extensions I can use.

Thanks.

We have multiple phone lines set up in our system. When someone dials out, the Caller ID will show the phone number for that particular number that it grabs. We would like to outbound caller ID to always show one particular number, which is the main number associated with our company. Is that something we'd configure on the Mitel or do I need to contact my carrier?

Thanks.

We have someone that recently left the company and used the VM to e-mail feature, which also saved all of his messages on the VM mailbox. We want to be able to check the newest messages without deleting or having to go through the other 90 messages each time. Is there an easy way to check the newest messages first and go backwards?

Thanks.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Auto-attendant not answering
« on: March 14, 2022, 12:45:33 PM »
Hi. The auto-attendant on our Mitel 5000 used to pick up after 1-2 rings, but this recently changed and I'm not sure why. It's now random after how many ring it'll pick up, and most of the time, it seems like it's not even picking up at all anymore. The system has been reset numerous times, but I'm not sure what else to check. I'll probably call the phone provider as well to see if maybe something happened on their end, but any suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Change display name on 69xx SIP phones
« on: October 28, 2021, 10:41:58 AM »
We have some Mitel 69xx SIP phones in the office that were set up a few years ago by our vendor. A new hire recently joined and I updated the name in the Mitel DB Programming as well as in MiVoice Office Application Suite on the server, but it didn't seem to change the display name. My guess is that I need to put in the IP of the phone in my browser and change it that way, but I don't know the user/pass to get in. Assuming I'm on the right track, how do I reset this login info, as I tried what I thought to be the way in DB Programming, but that didn't seem to work.

Thanks.

We have a Mitel 5000 in a remote office that has an auto attendant set up. Every now and then, if someone calls into that office, the message will skip the auto attendant and goes straight to the message indicating transfer to the operator.

A reboot of the system resolves this issue, but well, isn't ideal. We know the system definitely is a bit behind in software updates, and I'm working on getting that resolved. However, I'm curious if there's a likely other reason why this happens every now and then (typically once per month).

Thanks.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Music On Hold recorder question
« on: April 07, 2021, 09:03:02 AM »
We have a music on hold tape recorder that has been connected for years. We just canceled a marketing service that apparently provided this device so now they want it back. As far as I can tell, this device just loads the tape recording into the Mitel system, then basically sits there otherwise. Can I just unplug this device and return it, or is there something that I need to do first? I'm under the impression that our on hold music will still continue to play since it should be loaded onto the Mitel system, correct?

Thanks.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Quickly check forwarding paths
« on: September 30, 2020, 04:27:54 PM »
I was informed that one of our users was not getting voicemails. It turns out the forwarding path was missing. Another phone number next to it was missing the forwarding path as well.

Is there an easy way to see which of the 100+ phone numbers might be missing this information, short of going through each phone's setting?

Thanks.

What is the recommended way to move or swap an extension from a digital phone to an IP phone or vice versa (Mitel 5000)? I usually do a somewhat convoluted way that involves a third extension, but this usually results in the voicemail and call routing getting messed up. Thanks.

Maybe my googling skills need work, but is there a resource or link that describes the various programmable keys and key types and what they do (Mitel 5000)?

One of the assistants in the office would like to be able to monitor a hunt group to see if it's in use (not answer, just see if in use), but I'm not sure whether the "Hunt group" key is what I should be using or maybe another option.

Thanks.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / SIP Licensing
« on: March 14, 2019, 12:01:39 PM »
We have a Mitel 5000 system and recently purchased SIP 6900 series phones. However, in dealing with our vendor, it seems like we have to purchase two licenses, one for the Mitel phone system (Category F licenses) and another for Phone Manager. Is all of this really required? I currently have phones that show up with features like DND listed as "unlicensed", but it seems silly to me that I have to buy a Phone Manager license for do not disturb to work???

We are in the process of moving our office, and we're exploring the possibility of purchasing a new 5000 to set up in the new location beforehand, and then moving over the older Mitel 5000 when the move is complete. My understanding is that the Mitel 5000 is good for about 200 users, so the second system could come in handy to possibly split the load when we start to pass this number of employees.

The vendor we deal with didn't think two Mitel 5000s in the same location would work well. Perhaps he figured we'd have one PRI that we'd somehow split, which I can understand being complicated, but, assuming we had separate connections for both, and perhaps got a new set of DIDs for one of them, is this option feasible? Are there other benefits to this setup? It was also conveyed that the 5000 doesn't have an real business continuity/DR benefits, but maybe this is incorrect?

Thanks.

We recently set up a new office and all of them have Mitel 5000s and are configured as nodes for one another. The offices are NY, NJ, TPA, ORL and SF, with SF being the new one. NY can call via internal extension the NJ, TPA and ORL offices without issue (this was always the case). SF can also call those three offices without issue. However, if NY calls SF or if SF calls NY we get no audio. (the IC pickup works but no sound)

I added the SF public ip to the same firewall group and rules on the NY side as all the other systems, but no luck. I tried various other firewall modifications as well. The SF side is set up on the DMZ with no NAT, and as noted, seems to work fine with the others offices,

I'm not sure what to try next. Our technician wants to try putting the NY Mitel on the DMZ as well since it seems like it is a NY firewall issue in his opinion (it's currently port forwarding/NAT), but not being a phone guy, I'm worried about messing up the working connections.

Any other suggestions to try? Thanks.

A few staff seem to have this issue in which they will set up call forwarding to their cell phone and during the connected call, the outside party will ring back to the receptionist. If she answers, she can hear the conversation, as if it's a conference call, and would need to put the call on hold to keep it active. If she hangs up, the call disconnects.

Any idea what could be causing this and how to fix it?

Thanks.

We currently have about 90 Intertel digital phones as part of our Mitel 5000 setup (and about 50 IP phones). We are considering moving to a new office that only has CAT-5 cable runs back to the phone closet as they had all IP phones. Would we be able to use those CAT-5 connections for our Intertel phones? Would anything additional be required?

I plan to test this in our current office to confirm, but I figured I'd ask first to make sure it should work, and whether there is any caveats I should be careful of.

Thanks.
