Title: voicemail directory cleanup
Post by: networkwise on November 15, 2017, 12:49:45 PM
I work at a place that is a human turnstile and the voicemail directory lists several staff that are no longer with the organization. How do I remove names from the directory?

networkwise,

You would delete the mailbox or extension ID that belonged to that person.

Thanks,

When someone new would come in to replace the previous person, I would just rename the description and the username. Then on the mailbox I would change the password.

Is it another way to deal with this other than deleting the mailbox or extension ID?

networkwise,

Let me guess it is not that people are able to find them in the directory as you changed the user description which is how they are found. The problem is that when they select someone it is playing the old users directory name instead.

The easiest way is to delete the mailbox and recreate it, as long as it isn't used in a Call Routing Announcement somewhere. If you don't want to do that then just have the user re-record the Directory Name along with the normal greeting.

Thanks,

TE

It doesn't take any longer to delete and re-add the mailbox than the time it takes to reset the password. The new user is then prompted to set up the mailbox
