Mitel Software Applications / Re: MBG is Gone. Welcome to MiVoice
« on: June 06, 2013, 12:39:31 PM »
Per MOL bulletin PB20130063 the MBG (remember when it used to be called 'Teleworker'?) has now been renamed to 'MiVoice'.

This is version 8

Technically it's MiVoice Border Gateway. So MBG is now...MBG.

I believe a split DNS configuration is recommended, especially if you're going to access internal web pages via web proxy.

DNS == good

IPv6 is coming. Get used to it.

The Mitel 5000 uses some open source software.

Ralph

MSL, MAS and MBG are all built on open-source technology.

Any irc client will do.

Guys, anyone can make a channel, register it with the chanserv, and you're off and running. I'll do this for you if you like, I spend a lot of time on OFTC and Freenode.

My understanding is that the 5000 is only supported through MBG for SIP trunking at this time, although work on the 5000 soon will permit it to use MBG for other functions.

Mitel Software Applications / Re: UCA Client disconnects MBG

It means that from MBG's viewpoint, the set-side (SS) connection dropped.

Now, you say VPN. I'm assuming that there is no actual VPN in place, correct? No MBG client requires a VPN to connect, just SSL/TLS support at the socket layer.

Mitel Software Applications / Re: tap licenses issue (MBG/SRC)
« on: November 13, 2012, 07:28:31 AM »
You need to apply your license packs to the server on the AMC. If you have done this, and they're still not showing up after a sync, then email amcaccounts@mitel.com, and ask them. Be sure to provide the ARID of the server.

Could it be that most mail servers won't deliver email from domains like xxx.local ?

SIP-aware firewall between you and MBG maybe?

Problem is I still get an error when trying to send an outbound email: "delivery 1: deferral: Connected_to_127.0.0.1_but_greeting_failed./Remote_host_said:_451_Upstream_SMTP_server_not_available/"

Is there not a patch from Mitel available to fix the smtp-auth-proxy to handle AAAA records properly?

Works for me. OFTC and Freenode are good, open networks.

The tug logs look like a timeout is occurring.

On which side? Is the device registering with MBG, and then the timeout is on the MCD side, or is the timeout on the device-side? You can cut and paste a log snippet...

Was product support not helpful?

but when I use the Diagnostics/SIP connectivity test on the MBG I get rport missing from Via header - cannot test. What does that mean?

It means that the MCD is old enough that it cannot test for port mapping problems, but it is responding so you don't have a connectivity problem.

What settings did you configure in the Devices tab for this SIP device?

Forwarding port 80 doesn't sound wise. You're allowing script kiddies to hammer your UCA server on the LAN that way.

Voicemail is on 36006. I think the presence information is via the websocket on 36008, which, unless you're running MBG 7.1+, you need to directly port-forward to the UCA server.

Beyond that, I'd start capturing some network traces and call product support.
