Anyway to get the 5624 WiFi phone to send a call to VM if you select Decline, rather than just give a busy signal?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / DB Programming font changed
« on: November 09, 2017, 04:43:19 PM »
I am not sure how this happened, but some of the fonts shown in DB Programmer suddenly got much smaller... Nothing else on my computer has changed font wise and to my knowledge I haven't changed any system setting in weeks, but now the left panel and some other elements of the display seem to be using a much smaller font then they did before, yet the right panel is normal. Any ideas how to fix this?

SIP On Mitel / Mitel 5624 Contact Import
« on: November 07, 2017, 10:06:18 AM »
I have gotten the Mitel 5624 phone working phenomenology well with our Broadsoft hosted platform, but can't seem to get contact imports to work.

If I add a couple contacts and export the results, the file look very straight-forward, although it has a csv extension, it does not appear to be a comma-delimited file:

VERSION;1.0;DO NOT EDIT THE FIRST TWO LINES!
Name;Mobile;Work;Other
Steve S;;222;

But when I edit it or add more entries and try to reimport, like this:

VERSION;1.0;DO NOT EDIT THE FIRST TWO LINES!
Name;Mobile;Work;Other
Steve S;;222;
Dan D;;267;
Ron S;;103;

I get a message that says "All entries in file could not be read. Please check that the file is correctly formatted."

I am just editing it with Notepad++ and resaving it with the same extension, then trying to import from a file in WinPDM.

What am I doing wrong?

Non-Mitel Chatter / Help finding information on ANCIENT phone system
« on: November 02, 2017, 11:29:35 AM »
This isn't for a customer or any actual project... just to verify my sanity and I cannot find any information in the internet in searching. The actual location has since upgraded to a Mitel SX50 and then was closed and the building demolished.

Years ago, probably early to mid 1990's, I was called out to a down system at a small motel in a rural town, not our customer but they couldn't find anyone to service them and they agreed to the charges so I went out.

The phone system they had was an old automatic branch exchange, I am guessing from the 1960's, with rows and rows of exposed contacts in a refrigerator size cabinet. The maintenance guy there said when they phone noise in the past, he would take this wire brush and scrub the contacts to clear up the noise. The system was called a Like, Leik, Liek, or something similar to that (I don't even know how to spell it, sorry, and that is probably the problem).

I am looking for the name and possible model numbers of this system, and any links to info or pictures of the system. If anyone has any information they might be able to offer I would appreciate it.

This is not really important, just one of those discussions on a slow shop day of "how old of a system have you actually worked on" kind of things. :)

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Mitel 5000 DHCP Server
« on: September 20, 2017, 04:47:45 PM »
Anybody figure out how to set multiple DNS servers in the Mitel 5000's embedded DHCP server?

If I build a a DHCP option 6 and set it for IP Address, it only allow one IP address... and it works, but if I want a primary and secondary DNS server how can I set that up? If I set it for ASCII and put in 2 IP's a PC fails to get any valid DHCP address at all.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Phone Manager Network setup
« on: September 06, 2017, 09:52:08 AM »
I am setting up a test environment for Phone Manager in our office, but the issue I am having is with the networking... The VLAN used for our normal data cannot talk to the VLAN with the MiVoice Office 250, and I can setup the server running Phone Manager with 2 NICs (one on each VLAN) but do the clients need to be able to talk directly to the MiVO250 or just the server?

Meaning if my client PC is on VLAN 10, the MiVoice Office 250 is on VLAN 60, and the Phone Manager Server has a NIC connected to each VLAN will this work if VLAN 10 cannot talk to VLAN 60?

Mitel Software Applications / MiCollab with "WAN" DMZ
« on: July 21, 2017, 07:07:09 PM »
So I am doing an install of MiCollab, vMCD, and a vMBG... pretty simple, until the customer decided that they want to do their "DMZ" more like a 1:1 NAT on a separate virtual NIC for the MBG and MiCollab servers.

Essentially on the LAN NIC of those servers is a 192.168.200.X IP address in the voice VLAN, and on the second WAN NIC they have a 1:1 "DMZ" NAT with addresses of 172.16.20.X, where each IP address internally is mapped 1:1 to a public IP address

Now I know I can make this work with the MBG using a custom configuration, but how does this work for AWC on the MiCollab since it needs 2 public IP addresses, one that is resolvable, and a second one for the AWC that is just a public IP address. Would I need two 172.16.20.X IP's mapped independently to two public IP's, or could I use one 172.16.20.X IP address and have both public IP's mapped to that one internal IP? I am guessing I need two internal and two public, but I have never done this kind of a configuration before.

Would have been so much simpler if they just would have put them in a real DMZ, or allowed the public IP's to come directly into the WAN NIC's of the VM's (my preferred way).

Thoughts? Is this going to work, or am I just asking for issues with this setup?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / E1 PRI in India
« on: July 07, 2017, 10:35:47 AM »
Has anyone built a PRI from Tata Communications? I am struggling with getting it working... Primarily the Digital Link Descriptor and ISDN Protocol.

I know the circuit is E1 and from the carrier's equipment to the Mitel's T1/E1 MMC modules is a straight-thru cable.

What Address for Message Control (A/B), Network termination, E1 Impedence, etc...

I am trying to work with a local vendor through an interpreter but am struggling with it.

Below is what I have setup, I assume I should see something (like a netsync source at least)? The local carrier said the disconnected the cable from the Mitel, connected to their E1 tester and was able to place and receive a call, so the signal should be there. I have tried about every combination of settings I know to get some response but not getting anything. The carrier supposedly told the customer that they need a "modem" to connect it to an IP PBX (the local Mitel vendor tech said he didn't think that was right), but I don't see why an E1 won't work in a standard E1/T1 card in MMC1.

So I was looking through our phones in "Get IP Device Status" and noticed several of our 5330/5340 devices are using Category A Phone licenses since all D licenses were used. Does this work both ways, meaning if you run out of A licenses will a 8662 set consume a D license if it is available?

I have a customer that replace a PC with the same OS and MS Office version, Windows 7 Pro and Outlook 2013, and reinstalled their UCA 4.0 client. Everything seemed fine until the user imported their contacts, they are there but do not populate in the list of contacts. You can click or double click the "Personal Contacts (232)" and nothing ever show and the filter window at the bottom doesn't work. I know the contacts are there because if you enter a name in the Search Contacts at the top portion is shows them all and doing an import then checking the log file shows all the contacts already exist.

How do I get the list to show show the user can scroll through the list? I already checked UAC in Windows and the slider is at the bottom already, but I am thinking there was something else that had to be done...

Mitel Software Applications / Mac client deployment
« on: March 29, 2017, 12:40:34 PM »
How do I deploy Apple Mac clients when the user doesn't have a softphone? If you download the app from the app store and open it, it requires an auth code from the deployment server, the problem is we don't want these users to have softphones, they just want to use the Mac client in the office with their regular 53xx desk phone. If I try to do a Deploy MiCollab Client deployment to these users, it says "There are no deployable phones selected".

Do users of the Mac MiCollab have to have softphones?

I have a customer that has MiCollab Client 7.3 and about 50 or so MiCollab Clients for Mobile device deployed, a mix of Apple and Android, and for the most part they work fine, but we have ONE Android user that just cannot get it to work on WiFi... any WiFi at all it just fails to connect, works fine on mobile data, and the WiFi works fine for other apps.

I am suspecting an app conflict or maybe some kind of security software is installed that is causing it to fail, but don't know where to start... Does anyone know of known conflicts with other apps or other gotchas that might cause the client to fail?

These are BYOD users, not company managed, so it could be anything at all.

The problem device is a Verizon branded Samsung Galaxy S7 on Android 6.0.1

EDIT: We were able to duplicate the issue in-house with a Verizon Galaxy S7 Edge... Seems to work, just always says "Registration Lost" for softphone when on WiFi.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Caller ID Name not appearing on ONS sets
« on: February 07, 2017, 03:55:07 PM »
I have this customer with about a dozen 3300 AX controllers, all are stand-alone and completely analog extensions with a single PRI. They are all virtually identical sites with the configuration essentially imported from the same sources so everything is the same... COS and ISDN in particular.

In 9 of these sites, all connected to one carrier, the caller ID name and number works perfectly. (I do not see the CID name information anywhere in a EDT TRACE TSP L2L3 <PLID>, weird, but it works so I don't question it)

In other 3 sites, all connected to a different carrier, we see number on the phones, but the name always says "Unknown". The interest part here is I can actually see the CID Name being presented by the carrier in the the ISDN SETUP message, meaning the PBX is getting it but not displaying it for some reason.

Both carriers are telling me they are using NI2/Bellcore signalling, but I seem to remember something unusual or different about when the Mitel get's the Caller ID Name information in the initial ISDN Setup message, but I can't put my finger on it.

Anybody any ideas?

Mitel Software Applications / Whitelist Media IPs in MBG
« on: February 01, 2017, 06:24:24 PM »
I am trying to setup a new SIP provider called Telnyx, everything seems to be working except the RTP is being blocked by the MBG on 8 out of 10 calls because it is coming from a variety of IP addresses, in packet captures I can see it hitting the MBG but not passing through it. The carrier says I need to "whitelist" their Media IP's, how can I do that in the MBG?
