Occasionally I need to delete an extension appearance from all sets to do something else with it and if it is a key appearance on several sets I find myself combing through dozens of sets to find all appearances. All maintenance tells me when I choose locate it is that its a non-prime broadcast number.

Is there a way to see all the sets that particular extension appears on?

Our system has a couple hundred phones and several dozen of them are 5330e. It seems in the last couple of months clumps of these 5330e phone started suddenly losing contrast to the point I'm beginning to wonder if there's a setting in the controller that might affect this. I don't know whether it matters but all the affected phones are on streamlines and dongles.

I did some controller maintenance night before last and after it rebooted and the offices opened in the morning, I found that there were a few more that came back with no contrast...even with the contrast setting all the way up.

A couple of them I was able to reboot them and the contrast restored, but the other are still super dim.

I have downloaded a MiVB software installer tool for 8.0 software onto my Windows 10 laptop, restarted the machine and there in no exe file or shortcut to open the tool up with...what am I missing here?

Thanks, Jim

I just found some info on it in THB...it appears that the battery is only supplied if an optional APC is installed.

I was noticing one of our MXE III has no card battery inside (frontward from the i-button) and I was wondering if Mitel still uses those or if its a hold-over.

If they still use them, does anyone know what battery it takes?

We have a spare MXE III with RTC, SATA Raid, etc that our local county government ordered in case of hardware failure.

I am wondering if there were a scenario where the MXE III failed, could I just swap HDDs from one cabinet to another nad have it come up and work, or does the Mitel software care what environment it lives in?

Jim
You can literally do that with a few caveats...

1) the system IP address and associated information is stored in firmware, you will need to set it through the RS232 port on initial boot
2) you will need to move the SYSID chip as well (looks like a lithium battery on inside the cabinet), this is what keys the software license to the hardware platform. If you move that you don't have to relicense the controller or anything, just boot and go.
3) by HDDs I assume you mean you have a RAID controller. The drives are "keyed" to the RAID controller, if you move the RAID controller and drives as a set, you are fine... if you move the drives to a different RAID controller you will need to clear the hardware IDs and resync them.
4) Be careful to keep things in the same physical positions... moving them like having the PRI card in slot 1 and then on the other controller it's in slot 2 can create all kinds of havoc in some cases

There are probably a few more, but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Thanks heaps! I had forgotten about the I-button...(I retired from our local ILEC and I had installed and maintained these high-availability system for our local government, but after I retired I farmed and played and forgot most of what I had known, though its starting to come back to me)

I have a spare MXE III that I have assigned addressing to thru VX-Works and it does have a RAID controller. We aren't using T-1 framers anymore, they went to SIP, though I would probably want to migrate them just cause (I didn't think about slot positioning).

Software installer tool may be restricted to partners, think it would be. Eiter way you would need access to the version load file unless you already have it. If so, a Boot_Install via ftp would load the software

Thanks, I figured it would be...the CLEC that we have our maintenance agreement with apparently does a bit of cloud based support, but I get the impression our county is the only customer they have with physical high-availability systems and they seem reluctant to work on them (I guess that's why they hired me part-time, for I put these systems in and maintained them when I worked for the local ILEC before I retired and basically forgot everything...though its slowly coming back to me).

Never mind I had a brain fart...all I had to do was look in one of our systems.

I am an old retiree with a crummy memory and I can't remember...assuming the phones register to the system using DHCP. Is the controller address they look for the RTC address or the layer 2 switch IP?

Thanks, Jim

I retired from our local ILEC Mitel partner three years ago (where I had installed and maintained a couple of dozen of these systems) and our county government asked me to come work for them in February in IT, so I am now an enduser.

Is access to the software installer tool restricted to partners, for I don't seem to be able to find a download for it and my current Mitel MiAccess account is limited.

If the new drive has the base software already on it, you can access via the browser, use the default creds, and do a restore. That's probably the fastest way too.

Then once it's all up the RAID automatically rebuilds when the second drive is inserted.

I picked up a drive that has 8.0 sp3 pr2 -14.0.3.37 (closest software they had to mine)

My system is at 8.0 pr3 - 14.0.0.27

Do I need to have my licenses upgraded to the sp3, pr2 through AMC first, or does the license even care about the software patches and patch release?

Jim

I ordered a drive with 8.0 base software on it...

Thanks, the new drives don't have any software on them.

How do I apply the base software to them?

Thanks for the info. I am going to schedule the procedure Monday evening when traffic is light.

Once the drives have been pulled, the sockets are cleared and the new drive is in slot 1, can I still access the system via IP?

If not how do I need to access the system to tell it to restore to the new drive?

(I built this system in 2017 when I was with the local ILEC, but I have only accessed via IP since).
