Title: Test Call
Post by: ralph on June 11, 2013, 11:13:47 AM
Found a great tool.
www.testcall.com/222-1111.html (http://www.testcall.com/222-1111.html)

This is something I've wanted to do for a very long time.
Someone else did it and did a really good job.

There is another number which I use to ID the line you are on. It is an MCI number........1-800-444-4444. It replies:

"Thank you for calling MCI. Our system indicates you are calling from XXX-XXX-XXXX."

Hang up after you hear this. Thanks.

Thanks for your info too, Ralph.

I know this is an old topic but... I have used code 997 to identify POTS lines for years.  It doesn't seem to work for anything else.

Also I found out recently that is local to my area.    These are subset of Plant Test numbers called Automatic number Announcement Circuits.

I use the MCI number, I don't run across many terminals anymore.  8)
