SIP On Mitel / Re: Mitel 53xx phones and DHCP/TFTP issues
« on: May 02, 2017, 02:05:52 PM »
Nice... but fwiw, we use Bicom for our hosted system and Aastra/Mitel auto provisioning server now. Works very well.

Ah, very cool, I hadn't heard of Bicom.

Was mainly sending some fyi info for Giles.

FWIW I ended up using option 43 (in lieu of 125) on both vlan1 and the voice vlan.  It works, though am not sure if it's 100% required.

I didn't have much luck with 5320e/30e's in SIP mode either.  Was kind of buggy.

You may want to look at Sangoma phones.  I have a s500 with FreePBX and you can use the endpoint manager for auto-provisioning.  (free for sangoma brand)

Mitel Software Applications / Re: NuPoint CallFlow - Critical RNA
« on: April 30, 2017, 01:02:38 PM »
As an update, I've moved the call flow to a freepbx IVR and it's working perfectly.  I still need to open a ticket with Mitel which I'm not looking forward to.  They're always a PITA and want to charge us.

Though I'd still like to get to the bottom of it.  We have other flows on nupoint and of course VM so it's annoying when they don't pick up.  Not to mention one program is federally funded and service is critical...

Yeah, it's a bit old and I'm working on scheduling an upgrade with support.  We do have resiliency which does, in fact, seem better than freepbx's HA offering.  Though I don't believe our current installation and infrastructure really needs it.

@Zulu: I'm not sure, but tend to think it's on the nupoint side.  When this happens all Call Directors and regular VM calls continue to ring.

Code: [Select]
Mitel Applications Suite 5.0.116.0
Mitel Standard Linux 10.0.43

NuPoint:
Build: 16.1.0.13.01

Who knows on FreePBX, but I enjoy what I've done so far and I'm not seeing enough feature disparity.  At least with our use case.  The only concern is with UCA functionality, though Zulu may take care of that.

Anyway, I appreciate the MCD info.  We have a 2 member cluster at two sites alongside the MAS/MCD/NuPoint servers.

How do you do the busy/rts reset on the 3300?  I'll definitely give that a try next time or see about a weekly mas reboot.

Thanks!

I'm not sure how to do that just yet.  We need to upgrade anyway, so I may try first.

I'm also testing a FreePBX IVR.  Might just push calls over to that system as a workaround...

Mitel Software Applications / NuPoint CallFlow - Critical RNA
« on: April 07, 2017, 11:55:34 AM »
Hello,

We've recently implemented new call flows and now nupoint seems to be hitting critical ring no answer errors with the call director never picking up.  It's not doing anything terribly fancy, just a menu with various branches, transferring calls to extensions/groups as needed.

We have two T1's and 25 VM ports.   After awhile it seems the ports build up in a RNA state and very few call director or plain calls to VM work.

A reboot seems to alleviate this for awhile.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / 3300 SIP / Broken UCA
« on: July 27, 2016, 01:53:15 PM »
Hello,

I've added a new internal SIP connection for some testing with another pbx which seems to have affected a small portion of our UCA clients.  That seems odd as mine is fine.

Some UCA clients fail to authenticate until their password is reset.  One is refusing to authenticate even after a few manual resets.

Here's the setup:

Regular/production sip:

Code: [Select]
3300 >> sip proxy to MBG >> Internet >> Mitel Netsolutions

The other internal pbx is simply another Network element and SIP peer.  There are some small quirks, but each can call the other without an issue.  The SIP peer can also dial out through the 3300's PRI as it should.

Naturally there's a MAS involved for UCA, provisioning and NuPoint that I haven't touched at all.

?

Thank You,

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: 911 / CESID / Two Comcast PRI
« on: April 19, 2016, 01:15:13 PM »
Ralph, I appreciate the reply and idea on that one.  You're right that would at least not pull the cesid giving us some wiggle room on the secondary.

I'm not sure we can do that with hotdesking and our recent push to move most staff to match their DID with CPN.  Have to chew on that a bit more soon.

http://mitelforums.com/forum/index.php?topic=8330.new;topicseen#new

Though I think the above trunk group workaround will provide us the breathing room needed to ensure an emergency call can go out the primary 3300/pri.  It's still not seamless and I'm pretty steamed about all of it, but definitely workable.  (steamed since I'm a customer, not a var/msp or mitel engineer - this kind of stuff is their job...)

Thanks again!

Yeah, I have seen some pretty crazy ARS stuff...

See, that's the wild stuff I'm talking about..

I appreciate the tip; it's setup and appears to work well.  I definitely like that it's simple as this pbx stuff is in no way related to my job..

That sounds pretty simple, i should have thought of that.  Some of the ARS stuff seems to get out of hand at times.  :D

Thanks, I will give it a try.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / PRI channel allocation / balancing
« on: April 18, 2016, 09:54:55 PM »
Without getting wild with ARS is there a way to either reserve/allocate 1-2 channels or balance non-emergency calls across two PRI's/3300's?

13
Ok, that does make sense.  I'm not sure on the volume, though taking one or two for testing should be fine.  We only use that for inbound calls for a certain area code at this time.

All outbound calls go out PRI's.

Thank You!

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: 911 / CESID / Two Comcast PRI
« on: April 18, 2016, 01:53:07 PM »
I'm hoping for a few more ideas.

Since the above I've worked with comcast to update the DB (ali/ani?) whereby we assign each address/zone an identifier for both area codes.  So: "123 example street" has both 777-222-3333 and 888-444-5555 numbers.  This has been tested with almost every PSAP and operates properly.

The issue is resiliency on the 3300 and how it continues to send the CESID from the primary over an IP Trunk to the secondary.  I've moved away from hard-coding cesid's on the base devices configured zones.  Again, this has worked just fine except resiliency.  It was also very handy during testing as I didn't need to reboot or logout of the phone.

One attempt was to disable SDS on the zone form so each 3300 would have unique numbers.  Technically that worked to separate the forms, however, it failed in practice as I guess the primary 3300 is responsible for assigning the cesid/cpn before routing over.

Is there a way to force the PBX that ultimately sends the call out a PRI (or SIP) to the pstn/real world to do the assignment or some kind of translation?

During a major failover (pri dies, 3300 dies) I could simply update the zone form, but cannot account for call re-routing over the IP trunk due to all channels being occupied.

Location-based routing doesn't seem to help in this situation either.  Sure, I can add the LBR prefix and push calls to different 3300/PRI's as needed, but resiliency continues to be the sticking point.

And if you've read this far down, I appreciate that.  I'm starting to think that I'm putting in too much time on this issue since 100% of our 911 calls have gone out the primary.  The not so funny part is that it's due to an error in ARS by Mitel installers.  They setup a digit modification plan on the emergency IP trunk route to remove 1 digit from the front.  So then the secondary 3300 removes another digit, as it should, and bingo the call doesn't go through.   :o

Thank You,

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / 3300 SIP Licensing / Internal Trunk
« on: April 05, 2016, 03:28:41 PM »
Hello,

I'm hoping someone can clarify SIP licensing with a 3300. (MXe-III, RL: 6.0sp2, software load: 12.0.2.23)

When I hear trunk it makes me think of a peer connection, however, I'm guessing it's licensed by the number of DID's you have.  We currently have 30 allocated on an existing Net Solutions SIP account.  (through mbg proxy)

I'm wanting to test connectivity with another non-mitel system (internal) and SIP seems to be the way to connect them.   (vs ip/xnet between 3300's)  While we do have 30 DID's on the account we're only using maybe 5.  Can I grab one from that bucket and use it for a new SIP peer?

Thankfully the extension ranges are different so a few simple ARS entries should handle that.
