He's all over the news today.
A&E suspended him from the show.

I believe Phil has a right to say what he wants to say, and believe what he wants to believe.

I also believe I have the right to control my tv remote and spending money, and will do so by no longer supporting him or his family with either.

lol... I am so out of it with regards to traditional TV.

About a year ago I dropped cable TV entirely and put a PC in my entertainment center and connected to my TV... I haven't watched a "regular" TV show since and I don't feel like I am missing anything. Nothing but Netflix, Hulu, and such for over a year. It's not a bad deal, I am just out of touch with some of these shows and the associated water cooler talk.

He'd free to express his own opinion, but he might want to brush up on his Leviticus & Deuteronomy, I think he's probably broken a few of these himself.

Ace, House of Cards is way better than Duck Dynasty. I don't have cable either and I have no issues with the content I keep up with.

Not to get on a soap box or anything, but I think people need to stop, think and maybe do a little research before they freak out and protest and boycott anything. The internet has really done a number on civility in this world. Its great that people have differing views on things, that is what makes society interesting and causes progress. However, just because you want to go on a rant about rather specific groups of people doesn't mean it is a good idea. Nor does it mean that there will not be backlash from it. He said some things that I assumed he felt anyway based on his age and where he is from. Does this mean he should have gone on record as saying it? No.

Everyone seems to be focusing on the gay comment he made, which are his religous beliefs. The bigger problem with the interview is the fact that he thinks black people were happier when they were working the fields picking cotton. I don't care if he was right along side them.

Sorry, just tired of all of this ridiculous drama. Can't we all just get along?

Everyone

is
focused on the gay comments.   I haven't heard the comments about blacks.  But what I know he said was a paraphrase of this bible verse:

Quote
1 Corinthians 6
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God? Be not deceived: Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,  nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners shall inherit the Kingdom of God.

He firmly believes what that says.   Notice that it doesn't  just include LGBT.

Free speech means that public figures can give interviews where they are free to spout homophobic ignorant vitriol.  And what's great is that he won't get arrested for it.  That's free speech.

But if you publicly embarrass your employer, then your employer can terminate your arrangement.

So if by "I support" you mean that you support his right to free speech.  That's great.  But his freedom of speech has not been infringed.  He got his stupid message out...bless his heart.

But if you mean "I support" you don't think he should suffer any consequences for his public display of intolerance, then Facebook is probably a better place to show that support.

Looks like a lot of nice folks here:

So let's keep this (pretty great) forum about tech stuff.

On occasion it's interesting to talk about other things.  Even when we disagree with one another.
That's why this section of the forum exist.

Here's another link on FB.   In the last 24 hours it generated over 800,000 'likes'.
That's more that A&E got in 5 years.
