Title: Help with DTMF Issues
Post by: TimPNRHA on January 21, 2015, 10:05:48 AM
Good Morning,

I have received complaints of users stating that when calling into a conference bridges the are having issues with the DTMF, I am not proficient in wireshark is there anyway that I can see what is actually being sent across?

This is happening when using the Third Party Conference Bridges as well internally on my own, which is a Polycom RMX 2000. I have 60 dedicated SIP Trunks and I am guessing that this is only happening 5% of the time but it has escalated all the way up to upper management.

Any help would be great.

Thank you

Initial thought is that it is an issue with inband vs out of band DTMF.

Is there  anywhere that I can look to verify those or logs?

I had a similar problem once.
It turned out it was problems with the model of phone we had.
It was an earlier model than the 53xx phones.  I don't remember which one now, but the problem went away when they were swapped with 53xx phones.

Darn,

I wish it was that simple my entire fleet is 5330's, 5340's, 5324's and 5360's..

Could it be something that on the COS that I maybe missing?

There's nothing in COS for that.
I'd lean towards what martyn said.
You might want to engage your carrier to see if they can see what is happening.

The uc360's have a setting on the phone itself for the inband /out of band, and for our SIP trunks they needed to be changed to out of band dtmf to call into conference bridges.  When we are using our PRI's for outbound they work with either inband or out of band dtmf.

When there are problems, do you know what type of system is the far end, and what carrier they are with? Usually it is a carrier based issue dependent on the platform that their SBC is running.
