Hi,
I was asked to look at a 3300 system that allows users to call an outside number and then dial an extension (222-333-4444 ext 555) only by dialing 444, Im looking to stop that but I could not find where this 444 programmed its not in System speed call, or anywhere I could think of. Any Idea how is this programmed and how can it be modified.
Thanks.

Maintenance Commands: LOCATE NUMBER 444 and check the output.
-
locate number 444 in maintenance commands. Most likely it will be a special ARS route that absorbs 3 digits and inserts the entire outside number.
-
the output says " the number is not in use"
-
Have you tested this yourself, maybe it isn't really 444? Dial 4 and wait... does the call complete or do you get an error message? Repeat with 44, then with 444, and watch the display. It maybe they are actually dialing 44.

I did not test my self this is a remote site, I can ask them to test and let me know but I tried to locate 44 and 4 in the maintenance command but I still get the same result.

Try : dgt trace 444
-
Sunspark this is the output for the DGT TRACE
DGT Trace started:
No definition found.
DGT Trace completed.
and if I try it on 44 and 4 i get
DGT Trace started:
Termination cannot be determined, more digits are required.
DGT Trace completed.

Perhaps the extension number is on the remote system and when you dial into that DDI it automatically goes to ext 555. So it could be a system speed call?
-
x-man its not in system speed call.
-
look in " outward dialing modification"

I'm not sure I quite understand.
Is this the scenario:
Internal user dials "444" and call is routed to an external number via carrier trunk?
If that's the case, then you would usually do this using a system speed call.
A crazy person might instead use an ARS Digits Dialled + Digit Mod to get the same effect.

Check the SMDR records.
Have a user dial the number and then check it.
That may give you a clue.

or CCS TRACE CONTINUOUS during a slow time... could give you some clues too.
