With the rehash of cheap switches, just wondered if anyone installs the CXi? Myself I don't, most customers on the small end have a gateway device and I for sure don't like having the one point of failure.

Mitel Software Applications / Split DNS

I have a customer who may have an issue with getting split dns working external. With that said, has anyone got UCA working externally via ip address? I would figure that the web proxy would need to be bypassed and an external address would need to point to the uca/mas directly.

I do have a few scripts that will let me add the external address as a subject alternate for the cert.

I also know that such a setup likely wouldn't be officially supported. ;-)

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Mitel 3300 MXe Fans

I thought I'd post my findings from my latest test. I bought a MXe off of ebay mostly for the raid controller to have a replacement since the old model is discontinued. It came with one bad fan and the other is on the way out. Spent some time researching a replacement only to find the original Sunon is no longer manufactured and old stock is hard to find. The original one specs said rpms were 3900 and the replacing model from Sunon would be 4300 I believe. Even that model was next to impossible to find in small quantities. I did find a Delta with very similar specs, 4000 rpms.

The model is Delta AFB0812SH-F00, I purchased one for $12.50 US and can confirm it works. Have a few more on order. If this helps any others that are cheap like me, it's all good. You could likely run the same in 2 wire mode for the CX CXi models, although there may be a cheaper replacement for them.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Attendant rad

So, I've inherited this multisite who has incoming calls direct to the attendant during day with an attendant rad. One night mode is auto attendant and the other is a multi key on several phones.

The issue is with the calls to the multi key not being answered and the rad message playing. This would be the expected behavior from my reading. I think the customer would like if unanswered to either end in a mailbox or auto attendant. I was thinking that running this mode through an ACD queue would break the default behavior. Thought I'd ask for some other opinions.

After my last response, it had me thinking. How do you all like to setup yours? Being in the US, I set 1 to allow 1NNX, 2 internal, 3 tollfree, 4 local + tollfree, 5 local, tollfree, lata, 6 ...+statewide, 7 ... +continental US, 8 US + ak and hi, 9 US and Canada, 10 ...other 1 plus islands, 11 ... 011, 12 add 1900

Just thought I'd let anyone who is interested that you do not need any additional license to change from a Minet to Sip softphone under 5.1

If you read the relase info, it implies that you need a free part number 54005889. I'm awaiting clarification, but I think scenario 3 should have included the mobile license. It's another I Miteled ya one thing but I should have Miteled ya another :-)

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Strange ring deect issue

Ran into an odd one yesterday. Customer had an Axxess system upgraded to a 5000. They have and existing Valcom single door phone controller hook to a co position. The new system would recognize the ringing unless I had my butt set connected in parallel.

Went back today and connected a 1muF capacitor in series with a 4K ohm resistor to emulate the additional ren. Likely could have used a higher resistore value but it works without volume issues. FWIW the customer said they only use it for a signal to get up and answer the door when the receptionist is away from her desk.

Just want to hear how much people are doing. I have a few in the works and have been thinking about doing some more besides the default awc stuff.

Earlier this year I had a customer who wanted to default awc instead of the portal. Since I have been involved with SME, this wasn't too hard. I have been thinking about setting up subdomain and using proxypass and wonder if anyone has tried it?

Also, wouldn't it be nice to be able to configure the welcome email and force a send username password?

FWIW, for the latest I've been working on, I did change the names on the awc page to something more generic and branded to my customer. I'm sure it won't stand and upgrade, although there is a place in the install that might.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Mitel dual ring-ring tone

Anyone have a good 8 bit wave file of this? I have a site where they want to ring the nite bell out of voicemail after hours. In Mitel's infinite stupidity, it seems that all unsupervised transfers recall after 17 seconds. If using supervised, you hear the default MOH and I'd like to have callers hear ring back. I should be able to used tenanted MOH. Any other ideas would be helpful.
