Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Level 3 SIP and Mitel 3300
« on: September 11, 2014, 09:04:06 AM »
You don't necessarily need an MBG for SIP trunking. It is just an option because it is SIP aware which some firewalls aren't. I have seen SIP delivered on an existing MPLS circuit, via a T1 like you have and through an MBG. If you use an MBG it needs a SIP license for each SIP trunk. The 3300 also needs a SIP license for each SIP trunk. Think you will need to program SIP trunks on the 3300 and will likely give it the IP address of the router as the registration source. Think I say a doc for programmming to Level 3 on MOL.

You might want to consider joining the Mitel user group. Think the first year is free and you mgiht get access to more documentation. Think its in the partner section of the Mitel Web site.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Configuring PSAP Number
« on: September 11, 2014, 08:46:53 AM »
It sounds like since 911 is found in the remote directory number form that it is likley a phone or key appearance at the front desk. This would need to be removed and ARS setup to direct 911 and 9911 out to the PSAP. Not an easy thing to do without knowing more about your system. As suggested might be best to seek out a vendor.

Are you speaking of taking an incoming call and then redirecting out the ISDN link or is it an internal party using the ISDN to contact another system via the SDC?

Since its an LX is there any possibility of connecting a phone directly to the controller to eliminate any type of network issues? You would need a power supply. The only other thought I would have is you need a reboot as a next step.

The system can generate traffic reports. They just need to be collected. The CCM is one means of doing this plus it can also used the collected SMDR data.

Do you have DID's? Does this happen to all incoming calls or those pointed at the tree only?

Migrate DB means convert to the new database format.

Use IVR or use external voicemail. That's about it for now.

I know in some older MCD software if you program the 5330e and a 5330 it works. Would assume the same would be the case on this MCD 4.2 system i.e it needs to be programmed as a 5320 ( thats why the 5320's work ). Power requirments higher for the 5320e? Wouldn't think so.

« on: July 09, 2014, 08:42:13 AM »
The install tool in my mind is a fast way to program smaller systems. It started out as crap but they have been improving it with each release. In MCD 7 they have added a lot of features because I think they are finally listening to user feed back and it looks pretty good. I will give it a go next new install.

Most experienced installers skip using it because they can bang in a system in about the same amount of time and remember how bad the tool was so they don't trust it. Old dog.. new tricks that kind of thing. I would see it being useful to someone less experienced or if you were setting up a lot of small systems. It was created to save time on installations but the thing is that entering the programming is not that time consuming on an install especially if you import spreadsheets. That is why a lot of tech's don't use it.

Sorry hit sent to early. Bad day so far. The system has sets of greetings that you can setup and then assign to the RAD ports. That way you can easily assign a number of ports to the same message. Anyway all the programming is in the voicemail section of the 3300.

Sorry didn't read your post closely enough ( no coffee yet ). You said that if you call the Queuue and it plays 8615 and then overflows to another group. That makes sense.

The RAD will play whatever message has been recorded into it. Not sure how that references you System annoucement 5.

14
Agree with pmhaynes with the exception that you say when you call 8615 directly it plays a message then transfers to another ACD path. A RAD would normally play the message and hang up so there is the possibility that the RAD is in an external VM. Trying to remember if you program Nupoint ports as 4150 sets when doing call recording. Is there an entry in the tel dire for 8615 that says what it is?

Yes you should be able to do it via Active Directory if you are using it.
