If the gateway is configured properly and the telco supports 2 B-Channel Call Transfer (TBCT) it should still work, but a lot of telco's don't support this and even if they do, then their gateway needs to be provisioned properly to handle it. Honestly, this is rarely worth the hassle if the telco doesn't know what they doing.

Make sure you setup and do your Hybrid, ERL and Loss testing on the analog lines... this will likely eliminate the echo issues.

Sounds like it is trying to do a CO Transfer... used with analog POTS CO lines that have the transfer feature from the telco for those lines. You send a hookswitch flash on the line, get a second dial tone (usually a dat-dat-dat-daaaa), dial the destination (external, no DID or extension) number, then disconnect to complete the transfer. You could test this with a buttset on the trunk itself to see if the telco has this feature enabled or not, but it sounds like they don't have that feature enabled.

This only works on analog POTS CO lines with the feature enabled from the telco... It won't work on PRI or SIP trunks

If that's the case, then it just got pretty complicated. We have a mixture of SIP and PRI and the way we have it right now is that particular users DID is on SIP but the outgoing route is with the PRI with the outgoing ID from the SIP. Who do I chase on this case? Would this fall on the PRI since that's where we the outgoing call route is?
That isn't really how it works... When a call goes out, it would go over your PRI or your SIP connection. If you are sending Caller ID of the SIP DID out your PRI, then your PRI carrier would need to first allow a call from a number it does not have provisioned on your account (many do not allow this and Stir/Shaken would be invalid, which is also a gray legality)... Some will allow the call, but substitute the billing number of the PRI instead of the CID sent with the call (the billing number may or may not be the "main" number), meaning the number you sent as the Caller ID doesn't matter.

How Caller ID Name traditionally works, is when the terminating carrier delivers the call to the callee, it does a dip to a Caller ID database of the Caller ID ANI number it receives and if there is a match it sends that CNAME info to the callee. In this case your SIP provider "owns" the number and they would have to update the CNAME associated with that DID in the database. However, some SIP providers use a more "modern" approach and allow CNAME passthrough (meaning they send CNAME based on what you send with the call). If they just do passthrough and don't update the Caller ID database, then if you send the number out the PRI, no one really "controls" the name associated with it and most PRI providers do not support receiving CNAME from the end user, so either no CNAME is displayed or the name associated with the primary billing TN is displayed.

Clear as mud, right?

« on: January 01, 2026, 01:20:21 AM »
Either your system parameters/capacities are messed up, or you have a database error... The most common fix for this is to backup the database and restore it, any invalid or malformed information will not be restored. Note that if ARS is messed up, it could wipe it out entirely (rare, but possible) so I would suggest exporting those forms before doing a backup/restore.

Mitel Software Applications / Re: System password reset in MSL /MBG Login
« on: December 11, 2025, 09:07:20 AM »
It is right in the documentation... But remember it is just a (mostly) CentOS compatible Linux system...

To reset the Administrator password for the "admin" and "root" users:

1. Open a terminal session to the server or access the console.

2. Physically shut down the server and start it up again.

3. When the GRUB boot loader splash screen appears, press the "a" key.
 - The load process stops, enabling you to append arguments to the kernal boot line.

4. In the kernel boot line, type " single" (note the leading space) and then press Enter.

5. When the bash shell prompt appears, do the following:
   • Type "passwd root", enter a new password, and then press Enter.
   • Type "passwd admin", enter a new password, and then press Enter.

6. Type "exit" and press Enter to resume the boot sequence.

Note: Although you can enter unique "root" and "admin" passwords, typically you
would enter the same value for both users.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: can we still get licensing for the 250?
« on: December 08, 2025, 05:58:43 PM »
does anybody on here possible have some Category D licenses you could sell to us? just need 3

let me know
I really don't know how that would even be possible... Once a reseller has the licenses in their license bank, they can't just transfer them to another reseller to use... Your vendor of record that holds the software record would have to have them and apply them, then generate a new license key, and it would be loaded on the system to make them active. No other vendor can do that for you without taking over your SYSID, which is not free and most vendors won't do it without getting a signed service contract.

Sadly, the MiVO 250 is largely a dead/dying platform...

Is mitel still Licensing the 250? I got a customer that needs more Ip phones.
Haven't been able to for a couple years now... Sorry.

EDIT: Just looked, June 30, 2024 was the last date to order any licensing.

Note that this usually happens by closing the windows/tabs for ESM instead of logging out of the system properly... ;)

I tried to do this in Linux using dd... making a bit for bit copy, and it fails... the serial number it is using doesn't seem to be part of the regular portion of the card (hardware ID or something maybe)... I could get it to boot, but the SYSID was blank and it would be in license violation and reboot every 4 hours.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: Adding SIP device to Paging
« on: October 09, 2025, 11:14:34 PM »
Hi, I know this is a really old post but we just migrated to Mitel MiVB and having issues with getting PA to work on both overhead speakers and phone speakers. We have purchased algo 8301 to connect our analog speakers to mitel. it works but we can not add the alog to a pag group as it is a SIP device which can not be added to a page group. i can see here that you say you were able to by adding it as a SIP Phone. the alog is already added as a generic SIP phone and it still can't be added to a page group. can you please let me know if i'm missing something.

Thanks
This post doesn't relate to this issue or to the same system type... You should start a new topic in the Mitel MiVoice Business section.

That said, the same thing applies... Mitel MiVB (like this system) doesn't see a generic SIP device as a device that can be paged. On the Mitel MiVB, it is usually best to find a used/refurbished Mitel 5485 IP Page Adapter... This is programmed as a "5010 IP" device and it can be added to page groups like any other device.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Intermittent One-Way Audio
« on: August 27, 2025, 05:41:47 PM »
Anyone,

Does anyone know of a piece of software that would allow us to do something like a ping or pathping with a timestamp and store the results daily? I put a PC in each VLAN/Building and having it running a continuous ping, but I don't know of a way to store the results or have a timestamp. I just read an article on how to do it with PowerShell so I will give that a try tomorrow, but I remember back in the windows XP days there used to a program that had a GUI and would do that as well as other internal commands.

Thanks,

TE

PingPlotter is an invaluable tool... https://www.pingplotter.com

This is one of the things that is sadly not possible on the MiVoice Business system without extensive reworking of ARS and renumbering of everything in the system.

« on: August 22, 2025, 02:32:14 PM »
Sorry for the delay replied, my issue was resolve when I update the Windows 7.

OK... but if you are still running Windows 7 in a business environment I think there might be a bigger issues here, but that isn't really a discussion for this forum. Unless the "upgrade" was to Win 10 or 11.

Anyway, glad you got it working.

This sounds like you have a bad or "misbehaving" switch somewhere... Look at the stuff all of the sites in common, likely local to the 3300 seeing the issue. Check the switch logs at that the site of that controller.

I would also consider doing a reboot on the switch the 3300 is connected to and the 3300 itself.

« on: August 08, 2025, 01:51:49 PM »
I assume the 5550 IP console is on a different subnet than the "normal" voice VLAN? Remember that audio (RTP) goes directly from the device to the SIP gateway, so one way audio is almost always a gateway or firewall issue... Or the SBC or SIP Gateway doesn't "trust" the other VLAN (it obviously has a route to get to it though).
