hey guys,
My boss wants me to program a key on his phone to send calls directly to his voicemail without him picking up the phone.
(i.e. the phone is still ringing, he wants to hit a key on his phone and send it directly to voicemail).
I'm sure it's simple, but wanted to ask you guys how to properly set this up.
thanks!

There's a couple of different ways.
1- program a DND button on the phone. Phone won't ring no matter what line is called.
2- program a "call forward Always" button.
To make the call forward always button work, you must forward the phone via the feature codes or menu buttons. You need do this only once then the button becomes a toggle to forward the phone to the last place you forwarded it to.

Ralph,
i tried it on my phone before doing it to bob's. i used the super key, but it is sending all calls directly to voicemail without the phone even ringing. Is it possible to send a call directly to voicemail while the phone is still ringing with that call?
-
to put it more bluntly,
i want to take an active inbound call, and hit a button to make it go right to voicemail.

Once you program the phone to go to voice mail (http://www.mitelforums.com/articles/voice-mail-security.php), you can turn that off.
Then when a call comes in, a forward key should appear on one of your softkeys.
Just hit that button and the call will go.
No need then to program a CFWD Always buttons. The call will route to the last place you forwarded your phone to.

The "Forward Call" softkey appears on 5330, but is there any way to solve the problem on 5312 (5312 does not seem to support softkeys)?
-
That's the only way I'm aware of. I didn't know that the 5312 wouldn't off that option.

I have submitted to Mitel a DCR for the reject call feature.
