Title: USB Hasp for Virtual PS-1 Server
Post by: DND ON on July 25, 2017, 02:31:59 PM
Trying to install virtual PS-1 server for the first time, running into an issue with the USB hasp.

Mitel requires the hasp to be plugged into a USB port on the host, which isn't practical with blade servers. Our virtual CTI Gateway server uses a USB hasp plugged into a USB Anywhere device, which is configured via the Windows device manager on the Gateway server. Because the PS-1 is Linux, device manager isn't an option.

Anyone install a virtual PS-1, and if so, how did you connect the hasp?

Sure, it has to have a physical USB device connected to the host and mapped to the VM's virtual USB adapter. No other way... you can connect a USB hub to the server and connect the key to that.

If your blade server has no physical USB at all that can be used, your out of luck unfortunately, this is a requirement for this application.

Thanks Ace for confirming the bad news, something our vendor overlooked when selling us three virtual PS-1 servers.

Having to link the hasps to specific blades really defeats the purpose of virtualization. Mitel says they're working on utilizing the AMC to eliminate the hasp, but no estimate on when it will happen.
