Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / 3300 LX 700 User - who has one
« on: December 21, 2011, 05:50:50 PM »
I have a customer running one of these and they don't have the resources to upgrade.  I'm wondering if any of you have one laying around you want to dispose of for a fair price?  50004191

I don't know if the software can be restored to a 50004192 but if so we'd consider that too.

For you guru's out there, I'm making the assumption that if I move the system chip form his existing one, I could restore the DB and get him back up and running in a pinch?

Introduction and Announcements / Mitel Forums Ownership
« on: June 13, 2011, 09:32:16 PM »
  All,

I've decided to get out of the Mitel Forums business.  Ok, it's not a business as it doesn't have any income but you get the idea.  I honestly don't do much if any Mitel work anymore, just maintaining our existing systems at this point.

I am thrilled that this forum has grown into the great resource it is for everyone out there.  It is exactly what I hoped to accomplish when I started it.   At that time there were very few internet resources for good technical information on Mitel systems.  Today, thanks to all of you, there is.

I badly didn't want this resource to go away.  It didn't take long to realize that the logical person to keep an maintain Mitelforums.com is Ralph.  There are very few of us here that haven't been helped by him in one way or another.  It just makes since, and he is willing to take it on.

Ralph is in the process of testing the system on his servers in preparation for the migration.  He is trying to minimize the impact, but there may be some service interruptions when the cut happens.

  It has been fun folks.....

Introduction and Announcements / Spam Returned
« on: May 05, 2011, 08:48:02 PM »
So spam has returned.  I've turned up the Capcha to the very high and annoying level again and made a few other adjustments.  Sorry for those that have to go through it, but we gotta do what we gotta do....

PS:  Thanks again to Ralph for helping out in cleaning up the messes left behind by jerks.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Transfer via NuPoint Voicemail port
« on: April 29, 2011, 04:48:41 PM »
I have an interesting one I'm hopeing you guys(gals) can help out with.

Customer has 3300 V7.1.5, NuPoint 10 with PRI and IP Phones (5224/5212)  (I know, it's old, and I'm working on that :)

  Here is the call flow:

-Call comes in on a DID
 - Rings a shared line appearance on 2 phones.
 - Redirects to the NuPoint pilot
 - Hits a NuPoint Call director.  From Call Director user can select to ring out to a speed call with end users cell phone.
 - Call drops
 - Toll override is set on the speed call.
 - Trunks, phones and VM ports all have:
   - Public Trunk to Public Trunk allowed
   - Public trunk access via DPNSS

I've also tried having the Call Director go to the users prime line, and have the user CFW-all it to their cell.  In this case, if I call the users DID it forwards as expected, however  if it goes through a Call Director to get to the users prime line the call will drop.

I'm so confused .... :)

Non-Mitel Chatter / Captcha
« on: April 15, 2011, 08:49:04 PM »
I'm wanting to make sure I haven't made the board too hard to use.  To the best of my knowledge and my testing indicates that you only have to go through the Captcha process once in your entire "Mitel Forums Career." :)

It turned it up to a pretty ridiculous level when I upgraded the board a few months ago.  I realize it makes it a bit hard for new users to sign up, however I considered that a better option than switching to a manual validation procedure.  So far, it seems to be working.  The number of new "Junk" users each week has decreased considerably.  And I don't think we've been spammed since the change was made.

What are your thoughts on it?

Introduction and Announcements / IP Desktop FAQ
« on: April 06, 2011, 12:05:46 PM »
I stumbled across this in my inter-web wanderings and thought it was useful.  In my case I was looking for the part numbers for the 5310/5224 power supply and cord.  I can't vouch for accuracy, but it seems pretty handy to me....

I'd love to credit the source but I honestly have no idea who wrote this.....

Introduction and Announcements / Member Maintenance
« on: March 02, 2011, 12:22:05 AM »
Hi all.  I decided to do some maintenance on the member accounts.  There were over 4000 accounts on this system that hadn't been logged into in over 90 days - and that had less than 10 posts.  I purged them all.  I would guess over 95% of them had 0 posts.

Lately there have  been dozens of accounts created daily.  While they are getting through the CAPCHA and e-mail validation - they seem to be sitting idle.  It's making me nervous so I will be purging like this periodically.

Sorry if any legit accounts go caught up in my zealous rampage of deleting......

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Visualized MCD play environments
« on: January 19, 2011, 10:03:43 PM »
I'd love to do this.  Not only have a couple on our ESXi cluster, but even running under VMWare workstation/server on my laptop.  If nothing else just to have one with me for looking up what forms stuff is on so I can post answers here :)

Anyone tried just loading it up on any ole VMWare box?  I'll beat on Mitel for licenses if required.  PS: Cisco lets you do this and gives a very limited number of licenses when you do it.  Enough to test....

Introduction and Announcements / Recent Spam Attack - and status
« on: January 09, 2011, 02:15:20 AM »
Sorry all - we got pummeled and I wasn't watching close enough to block it sooner.  I think things are under control at this time.

FYI - it was some kind of distributed attack - came from 100's of IP addresses.  All under one user name this time, but clearly I'm nervous as had it came from 100's of users a well I don't know how I would have cleaned it up.

Anyway, over the next couple of weeks I plan on upgrading the forum from the stable 1.1.11 to the beta 2.x.x.  I tend to avoid beta's - but I think this beta has been out as long as Mitel Forums has been around.  I mean how beta can it really be at this point?

I have not read a damn thing on what this upgrade will mean/require - but I will do my best to keep the impact to you as minimal as possible.  I'd expect Tapatalk and the advertising to the be the most affected - neither of which affect more than a small percentage of users.  Hell, the ad's only affect me :)

While talking about the ad's - I thought it's only fair I let you know that I'm nearing my first $100 check from google.  At the current rate I'd guess I'll hit $100 in Feb/March.  I think that is pretty cool - more than pays for the web hosting - which was my only original goal!

Anyway, again, sorry for the spam attack - I'll work it out...

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Unable to log into ESM
« on: December 13, 2010, 05:49:52 PM »
Over the years, this has happened to me numerous times.  Unable to log into the console, getting an invalid user/pass error message.  Typically we reboot the controller and all is well again.

Is happening now on a CX system running 4.2.  I have to assume others are seeing this intermittant issue.  What do you do to resolve or prevent it?

  Thanks!

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Digit Conflict - and ARS
« on: November 18, 2010, 07:46:51 PM »
I know this is going to be easy for you guru's.  Took over a Mitel system.  They are using 4 digit dialing - however all of their DID's start with either 8 or 9   (IE:  8xxx).  That is also their extensions.

In ARS, they use 8N+6 - IE:  8 to get an outside line.   This is fine most of the time, unless the phone number is say 8555-5555 and there happens to be an extension 8555.  It appears the system ignores the Dialing Conflict Timer in respect to ARS and the calls match immediately and go to the extension.

Is there anyway around this?  IE: can we get a timer that will wait on the extension match for the user to complete the ARS dialing?

PS: By now you guys can tell when I have taken off my Cisco hat and am deep into Mitel - the questions start flowing :)

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Multitech SIP Adapters
« on: November 16, 2010, 05:50:14 PM »
For years in different applications we have been using Multtech analog to SIP adapters:

http://www.multitech.com/en_US/PRODUCTS/Families/MultiVOIPFX/

However, it appears Multitech as a company is getting out of the VoIP business.  I love that they have 1/2/4/8 port versions and they have always "just worked" for us.

What do you guys use for this type of thing.  My current scenario is a 2 building phone install.  building 1 will house a single 3300 ICP, and the 2nd building (connected via a wireless bridge) will house 8 IP phones, a CC, Fax and analog conference phone.  My design had a 4 port Multitech in the 2nd building.  One of the 4 ports of the multitech was going to go to an analog trunk from telco to be used for 911 calls from that building, and the other 3 to run the various analog devices.

The main building will have a PRI.

Needless to say I'm bummed out about losing Multitech.....what do you guys use for this type of thing?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / 3300 LX (and others) memory

How can you determine, short of opening up the box, how much memory a controller has?

Thanks all!
