If I may provide a little more direction for those who engineer/program new systems the easiest way to put in all the information is through the User's form. I would even go so far as to say that not all of the fields (columns) show up in the User's form, but can be manually added to it for it to create things automagically; yes I know that isn't a word.
To reduce mistakes on our part we have our customers fill out an Excel document that can be used to import the information into a csv file. If your default DB has all of your standard templates for each type of device then performing a copy/paste reduces programming time to a bare minimum.
Now, the adding of new devices is sometimes easier to just manually create them, but we have found that the original database is programmed faster using this method.
