Stuck at DHCP discovery-Dead phone?
« on: May 05, 2017, 01:35:39 PM »
I have a customer that just sent me a ticket about a phone that stopped loading.

They are running 6.1.3.27

I cleared the PIN and had them do a factory reset on the phone by pressing Volume Up-->Config-->Tools and Features-->REstore defaults

There was no change.
The phone begins to load and then gets to

DHCP: Discovery
Main version 06.03.00.14

Then it just hangs and does nothing. This is a 5320.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

Normal stuff... swap with a working phone, see if problem moves with phone or location, then either replace phone or figure out why jack isn't working.

I sent a new phone to the customer since they had 1 month of warranty left and had them ship me the bad one.

I found 1 of the pins in the RJ45 jack was jumped over one of the others. It is working on my desk now.

This is not a recommended technique and voids all warranty.

Magnus,

I used to see that with the 53xx series phones a long time ago, but no recently. I just figured we ordered a bad batch of phones.

Thanks,

TE

This may be a stupid question...but do you have DHCP enabled in the 5000?
