TDM to SIP Converter for RAD?
« on: March 10, 2017, 08:07:38 AM »
Before I burn a lot of my remaining brain cells trying to come up with a solution for this, I thought I'd see if anyone else has seen something like this.

I have some customers that mount a TV in their production area to keep an eye on breaking business news.
We route the audio output to an analog port on the 3300, program it as a RAD and put it in an ACD path so people can call in and listen to the TV audio from their phones.
This works great if the 3300 in the local environment.

What I need is a way to not have the 3300 local to the TV so that multiple offices can monitor their own TVs.
Does anyone know of a device that can take the audio output of the TV, convert it to SIP so that it can be used as a RAD?

Ralph

Generally we take the audio out from the TV and plug it into the analog port of the the 3300.

Yeah, I am a little confused on this... How are you interfacing to an analog port? With one of those little MOH adapters or some Viking/Valcom adapter or something? You can't just take audio out and plug it into a analog ONS port.

You can cheap, simple Granstream ATAs as MOH adapters over SIP, so I don't know why they wouldn't work as a SIP RAD, or at least a tenant MOH source.

Some of my thoughts, A Grandstream fxo (503?) with clean talk battery and the audio riding on it, coupling transformer might get you there.

Should also work for a poor man's approach to streaming MOH

I wonder if there is any way of using "Live Music on Hold over IP" that was introduced in MiVB7.0?

Think this is more like an alt music source, ons port held off hook with a transformer, feeding audio. I haven't done much with this to see what the capabilities are in regards to live ip

Looks like I'm going to have to pick up a Grandstream and play with it for a little bit.
The whole point is that I'll have a source in once city and the PBX in another.
I know there would be a delay but that would be acceptable.

convert it to SIP so that it can be used as a RAD?

I think the SIP endpoint cannot be used as RAD device, as stated in the online help in the "Recorded Announcement Device (RAD) - Description" section.

* SIP RADs are not supported.

Or am I mistaken?
