MCD 8.0 with 5324 IP that needs analog ringer also

A customer has an analog ringer that needs to ring when their 5324 rings.

The 5324 (3249) is set as a muliti-device.

I created an analog extension *3249 and I attempted to create a personal ring group with 3249, but it says the directory is used somewhere else.

I attempted to add *3249 as a member of the multi-device group 3249, but it says *3249 is the wrong device type (full).

Any ideas?

That's odd.
I would have used the personal ring group.
I would expect to see the "number is in use" message if you were trying to do a ring group rather than a person al ring group.

Delete the analog extension and recreate it as a multi-user device and add it to the MUDG of the set... I would also recommend NOT using an extension that starts with * make it 3*249 or324*9 or something, but there is too much of a chance of a conflict with a FAC if it starts with *

*32 is already in the system: it means "Callback - Cancel"

so I delete the analog and add it to the MUDC of the set...

This is my first rodeo programming the sets as multi-device...what do you mean program the ringer as a MUDC? I'm not familiar with the term.

MDUG - Multi device user group. It's on the controller. They work just like ring groups - you put numbers in here and set them to present/absent.

MUDG...I read it wrong...I saw MUDC (sigh)

Anyway, how can I assign an analog ringer to ring when the set rings, if I don't assign an analog DN? (can't add an analog DN, it says wrong service level).

BTW, I will not be using a * as the leading character of the DN, thanks for the tip.

I just had a play and it won't let me add an analog extension to my MDUG either.

I do have some full service licenses available and I could change the prime IP set that needs the ringer to full, but I would like to figure this out first.

According to the embedded help under User and Services Configuration, an analog device can be a Multi-device service level... Not sure how to do it though, it isn't letting me, but I don't have much time to look at it right now.

I was finally able to build an analog set as a multi-device.

I typically created my analog DNs from the analog form, but I deleted the DN from one of the four embeddedPLIDs, and then created it using the User and Service form and populated the PLID there under device details and it accepted it as a multi-device.

When I went back to the analog form, it was there showing a multi-device, then I was able to add it as a member of the phone's multi user group.
