Hiding or masking extension numbers
« on: July 17, 2008, 05:02:18 AM »
Hi,

We have an IT support team of 5 people.  Currently each has an internal extension which is published and well as the IT support number which is a multicall on all their phones.

I would like to be able to set the system up so that when any of the IT team dial internally the display on the receiver will show the IT support number or the name IT Support but not the users internal extension.  We then plan to change our internal numbers for the IT team so that they are not known within the business and people will have to call the IT supoprt number to contact them.

Is this possible?  I have managed to conceal the number so it shows "private" but I'd like it to be more friendly than this.

Cheers

Yes, this is possible to do. If you get the team to dial out from selecting the multicall key and not their prime lines.

You have to make sure that in the class of service for the sets that you set the following to yes:

"non-prime public network identity"

It will then present the number of the multicall instead.

You can set two numbers in the directory

Name Bob Smith
Ext 1000
prime to no
privacy to yes

Name IT Support 2000
Ext 1000
prime to yes
privacy to no

Can I do this for 5 users?  I can set the IT team to have their own extensions set as not being the prime but I need to add all their numbers to the IT Support number if you see what I mean!?

Thanks

That should work for all 5 phones.   Pretty easy to set up and test.

Thanks Ralph,

Have tried this but on the phone which receives the call it shows...

MYEXTNUMBER IT SUPPORT ITSUPPORTNUMBER

So it is showing both the hotline number and my number.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Sorry ignore that!  Set them both to private and job done!

Thanks again
