It sounds like you have Handsfree turned on. To turn off, go to System > Device and Feature Codes > Phones > the extension > Flags > turn Handsfree On/Off to no

You'll have to do that for each extension.

You can also dial 319 from every phone, but suavie has the better, less physical activity required answer.

Next time, go to System / Phone Related Information / Flags / [Flag] and batch change them.

Keep in mind when doing the batch change adding a user or removing them from will toggle the flag.

Also using the feature code does not update the phone-related flag.

Ie if handsfree flag is set to YES in the phone's flags and you add them to the phone-related flag it will switch to NO.
If the handsfree flag is set to NO and you add them to the phone-related flag it will switch to YES

So you cannot trust which setting they are in based on Phone-related-->flags

That information is not correct.

How the flag is toggled doesn't matter. It can be done via the feature code, the individual station flags, or batch changed. The result is the same, and will be reflected in database programming and phone behavior.

If you add a new phone, the default flag setting will be active (hence the term default).

I suspect the flag you need to change is the Ring Intercom Always On/Off. This should be set to yes for all extensions

Ring Intercom Always controls the transmit side. Hands Free controls the receive side.

In theory, either flag could work. But since you can't control how someone else may change their phone, Hands Free is more reliable.
