How to set up Call Fowarding Always in the MCD
« on: January 27, 2016, 02:24:45 PM »
Hello All,
This is my first post here, we recently went live with a MiTel phone system.  I have a pretty basic question.

My Environment:  3300 MXe Controller

I am trying to program a softkey on a DN to Call Forward Always to a cell phone
Here is what I have selected:
Label: CALL FWD TO CELL
Line Type:  Call Fwd Always
URL:
Button Dir. Number:  92225555555 (9 being the number to dial to call out + area code + cell number)
Ring Type:  Ring
MiXML Application Feature: Not Assigned (Only option)
Phone Application Feature:  Call Forwarding

When I try and save I receive the following error message:
"Key 4: The Phone App Line Type must be selected when a Phone Application Feature is selected."

If I leave the Phone Application Feature field blank then I receive the following error message:
"Key 4: Ring type cannot be valued."

Thank you in advance for any help you all can provide.

Your trying to do too much on the key... It can't be an application and a CFA key. Do one or the other.

1) make it a CFA always key and label it, leave everything else default. Go to the phone and press the key and put in the number

2) make it application key to Call Forward application. Setup remainder from phone. Only works on 5330/40/60 phones

Thank you Ace.
I did what you said and it worked.
However, I was trying to do this from the MCD side a the user can simply press a button on the phone and all calls will be forwarded to there cell phone.  Is there a way to do this from the MCD?

Set up the Call Forward Always key on the phone.
In the Call Forward Profile form set the Always destination to the cell phone.
From memory pressing the key should enable or disable forwarding.

Just keep in mind that if your system have Toll control enabled, then you might have to play around with the COS to get it to work for incoming calls from the outside.

So if you want to allow call forwarding to external numbers, then the easiest way is through System Speed Calls, this have pro and cons.

Thank you all for the responses.  I found how to do it from the phone however I was trying to do it from the MCD.  Another words, I'm wanting to do it for the user.  I am not at the location of the phones I'm trying to do this for.  I haven't been able to figure that part out, it may not be possible in this phone system.  We came from a 15 year old Toshiba PBX that we could easily do it on.

Thank you all again.

You can if you have remote access to the web interface. Go to that and choose group management and then go to edit the required phone DN and choose edit desktop and then you can click on a key and see what it does. set call forwarding and have a key set to CFA and then you can enter the number to forward to in the lower right box and you can also activate and deactivate the CFA from there as well. You can set all the keys on the users phone for them there as well. I am doing this from memory so it may be a bit different but that is the gist of it if I have remembered it correctly.
