Billbry66,

I believe Solic means how do you set it up. I had the same issue and didn't realize that the phones needed DNS setup for them to work.

Go to your MiCollab Server that is setup for IDS Integration.
Under Applications go to MiCollab Client Service
Click the Configure MiCollab Client Service
Under Enterprise look for Avatar URL:
Copy that URL: http://server url/ucs/avatar/dn/micollab
Exit out of the MiCollab Client Service

Go each MCD that you have in your cluster.
Under Users and Devices / Advanced Configuration / IP Telephones / Online Service URLs
Click Change
Change the Avatar to http://server url/ucs/avatar/dn/micollab
Click Save

Caveats:

The 69xx series phone has to have DNS setup on it!!!!
The 69xx series phone Network has to be trusted on the MiCollab Server.
Disable the privacy setting for DN on MiVB system administrator to see the avatar for that DN

Now it should start using the Avatars from your AD Integration when you get IC calls.

To test you can put in http://server url/ucs/avatar/dn/micollab/ext.png and see the users avatar in a web browser.
In the idle display of the 69xx phone the users avatar should be present
place a call from the 69xx to another user to see their avatar
If both phones are 69xx series phones both should see the others avatar

Thanks,

TE

How do i do those things:
The 69xx series phone Network has to be trusted on the MiCollab Server.
Disable the privacy setting for DN on MiVB system administrator to see the avatar for that DN

?

solic,

To configure the phones and MiVoice Border Gateway in a trusted network:
1.   Log in to the MiCollab Server Manager
2.   Under Configuration, click Networks
3.   Configure the subnet or network of the phones and MiVoice Border Gateway as “trusted”. See online help for instructions.

To remove the privacy setting for the Administrator DN you would need to look in a couple of places.
1.    Go to System Properties \ System Administration \ User Authorization Profiles
2.   Search for any user that is flagged as True for System Admin and write down their DN
3.   Go to Users and Devices \ Telephone Directory Management \ Telephone Directory
4.   Search for the DNs that were flagged True for System Admin
5.   If their Privacy setting is set to Yes then change it to No

Thanks,

TE

solic,

You only see the avatar when you are actively calling a person. I do not think that there is a way to show the avatar on a button.

Thanks,

TE

solic,

The only phone that I see with that in the feature teacher is the 6940 and it is with a speedcall key. I don't have a 6940 to test with right now, but my guess is that those are the only ones with that capability unless maybe they can with the SIP version of the phone.

Sorry,

TE

sorry to tag onto this but it's related. I haven't seen explicit statement that 6930 does not support avatars when buttons are programmed as speedcall.. Fair to say I haven't looked at every document. hoping some here has an answer?
tnx
