3300 and Windows 10

I've been putting off upgrading from Win 7 to Windows 10 since I'm worried about talking to the 3300.
Is anyone running Win10?
Are there any issues?
Does the browser work with all versions of the 3300?

We have one Win 10 laptop, talking to newer 3300's isn't a problem, but older ones that require IE can be, but no different than newer versions of 7 or 8 (Java and older IE issues) since only IE11 is supported in Windows 10.

Can always install and us a VM (MS Hyper-V or VirtualBox),  with Windows XP or 7 and have no issues... I have been playing with Linux Mint on an old Probook, using Windows 7 and XP in virtualbox, been working with 3300, 5000, Axxess (even serial port), and SX-200. I am getting to believe more and more that a true Windows machine is not required anymore, but still need access to it for some things, but I am still using a Windows 7 machine with IE8 and Java 6 for compatibility in daily service.

No, that went away after 7. You'd have to run/build your own.

According to Microsoft Hyper-V is included, same as Windows 8, if you have Enterprise, Professional, or Education edition of Windows 10... https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization/hyperv_on_windows/windows_welcome

But the normal Windows XP mode that 7 had is removed, there are guides online to making it work or you can install from a disk or ISO image, where you get that is up to you I guess.

I fired up XP in Virtualbox to try out.
There are challenges with Cisco VPN but I was able to work through it.
Then the first thing I found was the IE version included with XP (ver 6) doesn't work with 3300 ver 6.0
It does with 4.2.
I can't load IE 7 on XP so I'm a bit stuck.
My next option would be to load Win 7 in a Virtualbox.  The problem is I don't think I have a copy of that.

So bottom line is, I still haven't figured out if I'm ok to upgrade to Windows 10 or not.

I have been using Windows 10 for some months now with no issues, for Older Mitels I use IE Tab in chrome or Firefox

That was the answer I was looking for.
That's the first I've actually heard of someone using 10.

My next step is to find a way to test my Cisco client in 10.

I don't have the Any Connect client.
If I understand it correctly the AnyConnect client doesn't work with all the Cisco VPN stuff.
I have the older one.
Tried to get it to work today and found it doesn't work with 10.
I tried another one today by Shrew Soft.   shrew.net
It was recommended to my by one of my customers I have to connect to.
I couldn't get it to work either even though they have it working with 10.

Bottom line is: it's just too risky for me to upgrade at this point.  Too much may not work.

Why can't you load IE7 or IE8 in Windows XP? Both are supported... If you are missing SP2 or 3, you can find it on-line pretty easily and install it manually since you can't get it from Windows Update anymore.

The best support for older systems we have seen are with Windows XP Pro SP3, IE8, and Jave 6 (6u45).

I played around with Windows 10 on a test VM. Had no issues connecting to MCD 4.0SP4 on up to 7.2 using IE 11 with the proper settings (add the MCD/MiVB to Trusted Sites, enable Compatibility Mode for up to MiVB 7.1, turn it off for 7.2). Was able to the current JRE release (1.8.x) to work with both MCD's and Enterprise/OpsManager by adding the MCD/server to the Java Security Exception list.

My biggest problem right now is that I can't get my cisco VPN to work.
If I could get shrewsoft software to work that might be OK.

I tried to do a Windows reset.
It tries to do a reset and comes up asking for my keyboard type.
I can't choose anything.  There's no curser and it doesn't respond to keyboard our mouse input.
Tried both USB and PS2 keyboard/mice.
It's a known MS issue.   

So I have two choices:   Stay on Win 7 until death do us part or buy Win 10 PRO and try it on my spare PC.  Not what I want to do.
For now I'll stick with Win 7.

Check your local Craigslist or other classified site and grab a laptop with a valid copy of Win 7 Pro... I know around here getting a decent one is pretty reasonable (under $200 for a basic HP Probook with i5), and take the free upgrade to Win 10. Win 7 pro should become Win 10 Pro, if it doesn't work out just reload back to Win 7 and keep it as a spare.

Personally, I am trying to ditch Microsoft as much as possible... I have some real issues with Win 10 and their forced update and privacy policies, but in the "real world" in this business I don't know if it's possible yet.
