Incoming caller ID showing user's DID
« on: July 28, 2015, 06:47:15 PM »
System Details
 - 5000 6.0 SP3
 - PRI service

The large majority of incoming calls to a user's DID will correctly display the incoming caller ID but sometimes instead of the incoming caller ID it will just show the user's DID.  The client believes that this occurs when the incoming number is unknown or private.  I have not confirmed this.

Is this normal?
Is there a way to change it to display Private caller or unknown or something along these lines?

Normal behavior.  Shows CLID if available, if not shows description field of trunk group or DID.  If it NEVER showed CLID there are flags set wrong, but that's not the case here since sometimes it does.

Hershel,

You would handle this with changing the description of the users DID to say Private, No CID, Blocked, or whatever makes sense to the user. We do this a lot with the description of a CO Trunk Group for POTS lines or T-1 channels for when a call comes in without caller ID information so we don't post the 92xxx of the trunk group that the call comes through. Keep in mind you only have a few characters to work with though at the CO Trunk Group level as opposed to the Call Routing level.

Thanks,

TE
