Inter-tel 8622 SIP
« on: June 22, 2015, 09:40:34 AM »
I know how to change over the 5320e over to SIP mode and have no issue. Is there w ay to change over the Intertel 8622 to sip mode? If so is there any documentation to do it?

On the mitel phones I just heald *7 and changed to sip mode than programmed from web interface.

cgashlin01,

To switch to SIP mode, power up the endpoint with the buttons 1 and 2 pressed on the dialpad. To switch back to ITP mode, hold down 5 and 6 on the dialpad while powering up. After that you can change the settings in the Web Interface and upload new firmware via a TFTP server.

If I remember correctly you need to put :8080 at the end of the IP Address that the 8622 got from your DHCP server in order to get into the web interface. The default username [IPT], which can't be changed, and password [iptpassw], which hopefully was not changed at any point.

Thanks,

TE

Is there a way on either the 8622 or the 5320e to make it show Do Not Disturb when the DND key is pressed? Currently if I press it it says *DND ON* then flashes away. I want it to stay on when DND is pressed. Keep in mind this is all in effort to move to the asterisk system and save money by utilizing the mitel phones. I have them working in every feature except this DND. My only goal is to get the user to have some type of display that stays up that says DND.

The Asterisk code for DND sis *76 however it appears that Mitel does not like reading the BLF code that works on asterisks phones liek CISCO,YEALINK, DIGIUM, etc.

Any advice?

cgashlin01,

Unfortunately I have never had to make one work on anything other than an Axxess or 5000 in SIP Mode so I can't really answer that question. As for what code we use it would be one of the following. Most of those options are built into the phone so my guess it is looking for one of those.

DND ON: 370
DND OFF: 371
DND ON/OFF: 372

Probably the easiest method to resolve the problem would be to get a SIP license on the 5000 and then create the 8622 as a SIP phone and then see what it sends when you use each feature that is supported on the 5000 while in SIP Mode.

Hopefully someone else has a better answer, but unlike CISCO, YEALINK, DIGIUM, etc. the 8622 has been around a lot longer and may not support the same DSS/BLF codes that they do; although I find it highly unlikely.

Sorry,

TE

Should be able to hold down * and 6 while the phone is booting.

cgashlin01,
I'm glad I found this thread.  I want to do exactly what you are doing - use my existing 8622's with asterisk.

Are you pushing any type of autoconfig code to the phones? or are you solely programming them manually?

Did you solve your DND quest?

Also, what is the default SIP authentication password?  I can't change it to my assigned password because I don't know the default.  Unless it's iptpassw, which I'll try now.
