Cannot Access ESM 3300 CX II
« on: May 17, 2015, 11:55:01 PM »
Hi,

I know this topic has been extensively covered in this forum but cant seem to get this going. We got called out to check an old CX II controller which nobody seems to know what software load its running. Is there a command I can run to give me this info? The controller has been restarted thrice. I have downgraded my IE to IE 8.0. I have restarted the WebServer using ts WebServer and tr WebServer. Non of these have worked for me. Of concern to me are the lines below which are coming up right at the end of booting up:

0x41b9180 (tTMonitor): taskMonitor -> taskMonitorLoop  - Major Alarm being raised upon detecting the following task suspended: tJLSanity taskId 0x41ae200 crash time MON MAY 18 13:49:54 2015

0x41b9180 (tTMonitor): taskMonitor -> addTaskToMonitor  - ***ERROR invalid task id 0x41b8e40
0x41b9180 (tTMonitor): taskMonitor -> addTaskToMonitor  - ***ERROR invalid task id 0x5dc0dc0
0x41b9180 (tTMonitor): taskMonitor -> addTaskToMonitor  - ***ERROR invalid task id 0x41b8e40

I'm not sure if these could be related to my problem. All the client needs to do is change the ip address of the controller as it has been moved to a new location. I know we may be able to change this from vxworks ut this will not solve not being able to get onto the ESM page.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Cheer!

It looks like the software is failing before it enables the web server.
I suppose it's possible that there is a bad card in the system.
You could try removing DSPs other modules to see if it will fire up then.

Hi Ralph,

Removed DSP and restarted - still having the same issue. Which command do I need to run to know the installed software load?

Cheers!

Hi,

I swapped the hard-disk with one that we have for testing in the office and was able to get to the ESM login page with no problems. Database corruption? Anyway to repair the database in VxWorks. I dont think this controller has ever being backed up.

Cheers!

Thanks Johnp,

So the software is 11.0.2.66. Is there anyway to fix the database in VxWorks?

Thanks

Wonder if its got another load on the disk in the inactive partition that you could swap back to? Tehn upgrade it again to to MCD 5.0? Was swap available in MCD 5.0?

Swap should be available in that load.

So if I run the Swap command, and it loads the previous software load, am I correct in assuming that the programming will be intact and only the software load will be older?

Cheers!

If you are able to boot from the inactive load the programming will be what was on that load when it was upgraded. It won't be current.

Hi all,

I managed to get an old backup of this controller. Now without access to the ESM page, can you restore from VxWorks? I have a feeling I may have to load the software fron scratch then restore the backup?

Cheers!

TBH probably the easiest way. I wonder if you can restore the backup from the software installer rather than the ESM though (we have to do this with one really old software controller; but the backup is also made by the SI). But that may not cure your problem is the underlying problem is the OS/Web rather than the database.....?

When connecting to the controller are you doing so directly or across the LAN? Just for fun, try the VLAN_Off command.

Not sure if this is your issue our not, but we have had a lot of issues with failure to be able to login to the controller at one site, only a  reboot seemed to fix it for a while... After working with tech support for some time, we found that the software the IT department was using to scan the network for security issues was sending something to the controller that would "confuse it" and cause the web server to not allow us to login or not show a login screen at all. Having the IT people add an exemption not to scan the 3300's IP addresses stopped the problem from recurring.
